GoddessDustyGold -> RE: New Spam on frontpage (2/27/2006 11:51:20 AM)

I, too, would like to have a heads up about whether or not clicking on ads generates income for the site. Are the ads directly paid for, or does the income generate from clicking though? If I can click and generate income, I am more than happy to do so. I am an adult and can take a quick glance at any website I choose in the privacy of My own home. I am also open to supporting websites through collarme, such as the stockroom, when I need to make an online purchase.
That said, I have only seen text ads. Never a picture. And I use IE..virtually all the time. I would prefer that collarme does not place porn pics, if at all possible, because I think it would take away from the class of the site. And those types of pics only help to propagate the myth many of us are trying to dispel. I know it makes some of the boys cranky, but the truth of the matter is that more and more of the free membership here are people who view this as a porn site. I don't consider it to be such, ( I find collarme to be a classy alternative lifestyle site) but that is the unfortunate and automatic attitude of many.
Well, there ya go... I don't have the wherewithal to cover the collarme bills, so who am I?

The short answer is yes, GoddessDustyGold, more clicks will generate more revenue for CollarMe.

I can imagine the horror at seeing bdsm/fetish/adult oriented ads on an adult oriented personals site. GASP! My experience with online ad sales is you do not always know exactly what an ad will look like and say until the ad server pops it up on your site. I am sort of assuming this is the case. While I support collarme in their efforts to generate revenue, some of the ads do seem a bit out of character. I predict after some time the ad rotation will stabilize.

The ads I see are small square photos of erotic (but not pornographic) pictures and captions such as:

Hot Partner Swapping!!
Discover someone today for hot sexual encounters.
Adult Friend Finder
Online Adult Personals Network
Get Tied Up and Whipped
Find Real People Near You Looking For BDSM, Fetish

Below that are some text only ads that read:

Find Your Sexy Date Today
Meet thousands of Sexy men & women from your area!

LA's Hottest Nude Dancers
Hot Nude Fetish models for your pleasure

My Rotten Wife
She married into 7 figures, but she'll fuck anything with 2 legs...

Find a Sex Partner Today

Get Laid Tonight!
Meet Someone For Sex In Your Neighborhood Right Now!

I'm sure it makes the collarme faithful extremely happy to know that CM is running ads for the following:

http://www.pcpandora.com/info/spouses.php

>PC PANDORA Will allow you to MONITOR, RECORD and take SNAPSHOTS of the following:

* Every WEBSITE your lover visits
* EMAILS your lover sends and receives
* INSTANT MESSAGES sent and received
* CHAT ROOM conversion made
* Every PROGRAM that your lover runs
* Every KEYSTROKE your lover types will be recorded: This is a very important feature because this will allow you to record the passwords that they use to get into email accounts such as HOTMAIL, YAHOO, AOL, or the passwords to other sites that you want access to.
PC Pandora will even record your lovers secret passwords so you can always know what they are trying to get away with behind your back.<

You gotta just love that.

PC Pandora... because not all of us are Penelope. [:D]

DiannaVesta -> RE: New Spam on frontpage (2/28/2006 3:49:21 PM)

I don't see how the ads will pay for anything but I guess you'll weigh all that out later. The type of ads showing up I don't see anyone here clicking them. I think there needs to be advertising but it should be more in theme with what the users here will click. Otherwise it's just a bunch of crap on the page.

I also think you should set up your zones better. Your programmer could help you with this, I'm sure. Maybe even a sponsor area directing people to click and support you.

Otherwise apply a surcharge for personal ads. The ads are still free, you just charge for "other things" like additional photos, more fields or in my case I would pay to have my url & fetish business info in my personal and profile. These could be additional fields that are upgrades.

Sorry, it was an obscure reference to ancient Greek mythology sparked by the name "Pandora's Box".

In the Odyssey, Penelope is the wife of the King of Ithaca who is gone for 21 years and rumored dead. She remains faithful to her husband, spurning many suitors who pressure her to remarry. Odysseus finally returns but in disguise and watches her for awhile to make sure she was still true to him.

I'm going to agree with Diane here.

I run a bunch of sites. Of course, none are at this time, as large as CM. But I can say that I would be REALLY surprised if those ads actually produced the type of revenue that would actually bring in any tangible income.

I also would pay for extras - or for other things. I'd be more than happy to share my ideas wiith those that make such decisions, but then they've never taken me up on that so far on a serious level.

There are many ways that they could make a way better income and have ads here that would at the least - be on topic.

I trust if they are interested in any suggestion I might have to give, they'll contact me since they know how to find me. lol.

For what it is worth I use Firefox and I see 15 text and image ads all alongside the right hand side of the main page. I can ignore it, but I was surprised they chose that route when there are SO much better routes to take, but hey that is just my opinion and worth every cent that was paid for it. *chortle*

No problems with the ads Moderator, however, I'm having a distinct problem getting any Dommes to fall madly in love with me.

I contacted my service provider and they found nothing wrong, I checked my RAM, all good (2 gigs), virus checking software shows no errors, power supply was replaced only recently.

It's truly a dilemma.

Perhaps this has been brought up in previous forums and others may have found a workaround for this issue.

There is a security update from Microsoft that will fix the problem. The only trouble with it is that it will erase your hard drive and disable your computer. I guess you have to take the good with the bad. [8D]
