I wanted to first thank everyone for their support. Collarme is going through a transitional phase at the moment. There have been some changes and we really hope that everyone can bear with us.

Collarme has been a free site for several years and the costs per month, just for the bandwidth, are more than most peoples mortgage payments. Hopefully that can help put things into perspective. There are also costs for hardware and upgrades not to mention legal expenses. These costs increase exponentially as the site grows.

Collarme was started as a labor of love and we tried to keep it ad free for as long as possible. Previously, we tried asking users for donations and it was unsuccessful. We didn't receive enough to cover even 1% of our monthly expenses. We will try to do everything in our power to keep the quality of the user experience on our site as high as possible while hopefully bringing in enough, through advertising, to cover our expenses.

I apologize if some of you find the banners offensive. We are, to a large degree, experimenting with them right now to gauge how effective they are and if/how they might affect the user experience on the site. We may eventually just have text ads in that location, we might try to get milder banners or more BDSM/fetish focused advertisements there. This is as new for us as it is for all of you. In the end we hope to still offer a high quality user experience with minimal distractions and hopefully some bigger and better features as well.

If anyone has any specific concerns or suggestions please feel free to message me.

i think it is interesting and hypocritical to allow your advertisers to use nudity in their ads when we as members cannot.

Amazing what a dollar can do.

i used to be able to be logged in here and not worry about offending those nearby - not anymore. i won't be logging on much anymore and certainly not for the amount of time i used to.

It's amazing that you have no clue what the real issue here is. The models in the banner ads have signed model releases and their verified personal information is kept on file by the respective site owners to satisfy the current draconian governmental regulations. No such documentation is provided by users here and the ownership of images in use is questionable at best in many cases. It's not your ass on the line if the decency police come knocking, it's the site owners' asses. How dare they not put their finances and freedom on the line for us!

It amazes me that some have the audacity to complain about something they get for free anyway.

How about *you* (generic) build a site, pay for it.. and then pour thousands of hours into it. *You* decide how much money you are going to spend, and if you are going to put up the extra money every single month as you watch the expense grow.

Then sit back and take the bitch slaps everyone tosses in your direction.

Now there is a novel idea, huh?

CollarMe tried going the donation route, didn't work, so now they are looking at advertisers. I personally think that they should offer it as a pay site to all those that complain and bitch. Put *your* money where your mouth is. If you want the ads to go away, then pay something for that privledge!

So now people make threats, I am not going to come here, I am going to find someplace else, I left so and so website because of this or that. Fuckin' leave already. You are bitching and other people are paying for your right to bitch at them for what they do FOR YOU, for free.... ah the irony. Kills ya sometimes ;-)

As far as nudity goes, I see them every single day here. None of the ads are any more or less graphic than those I have seen on profiles. Besides, once you have been on the site and gone through about 10 pages the banners go away. Mine are all text ads now..

Go to the front page and log your ass out or click on the damn ads and generate some money for the site.

I know that there's a need for money, but the calibre of the entire site just hit the can. Porn ads? That completely destroys any credibility as a not-just-a-meatmarket-and-wanker-site. Completely. All of those rules for all of those years to keep the place classy just went out the window.

Trust me, I'm not really a complainer. This site has been wonderful, and I know that it costs money to run. Maybe a lenient policy on membership would have gone farther. I wouldn't even have a problem with product ads that were somewhat respectable... but pron shots? That's dipping pretty low, pretty fast.

Please, please Moderators. PLEASE rethink the ads. I agree they need to be there, but not pron shots please. Symbols, equipment shots, trademarks, etc would work well, but we're all losing the integrity of the site with tit and ass shots.

i have stated repeatedly in the chatrooms that i would gladly pay a monthly fee to be here, for your information. it seems to be everyone else that wanted something for nothing, not me.

At least here, in the past, i was able to check mail without being concerned about who is looking over my shoulder, and since this is a free country, i have every right to have an opinion about a change that affects how i live, and to voice that opinion in the proper forum, which is here.

Make it a paid site, and i will gladly be the first one to ante up.

I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I hope no one objects to my chiming in but I just felt I should say something. I have been on Collarme for years and appreciate it immensely. I read ModeratorOne's post and I totally understand the need for ads.

My jaw literally dropped when I saw slavepets post saying that the site will do anything for a dollar. I have never read anything so offensive in my life. The site is free and has been so for YEARS! and I cannot think of a single site that is LESS money hungry than Collarme. How many other sites do you know that have done that? I would challenge everyone here to come up with even just a handful of sites this size that do not and have not had advertising for years.

They are doing what they have to and I for one am grateful. As ModeratorOne said

(and I really wonder if some of the people who responded actually bothered to read her thoughtful post) they are experimenting right now to see what they can and have to do.

As someone who deals with advertising and with websites I would like to point out that it isn't always easy for a site to get advertisers and the quality of advertisements that they want or advertisers that are willing to pay enough. Its easy to say get product ads etc. but its easier said than done. Do any of you even have a clue how many tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars have gone into Collarme? I am sure they will do what they can and I support their efforts 100%.

Here is another suggestion, if you want to see better ads, why not buy some advertising space from them?

I said it was amazing what a dollar can do, not that collarme would do anything for a dollar.

i have always offered to pay to belong, but why should i pay when you don't? Even if i took your ridiculous suggestion, the display of sanctioned nudity on the ads would remain. This site was a safe place for me (both work safe and family safe) since i joined over 3 yrs ago. i could remain on the mail pages and no unwanted images were forced on my screen unless i navigated elsewhere. it isn't safe for me to log in to check mail anymore. i object, especially since i am not allowed to state an alternative way to contact me in my profile.

I am sure the majority of the users would much prefer the little bit of advertising they have now, which I personally find completely unobtrusive than having to pay memberships.

If you want to pay for a membership without ads there are sites that offer that and perhaps Collarme will eventually offer an option to pay to remove ads. You didn't even give them a chance.

This site was not written for you, sexypet, with the intent of it being your personal safe haven and these forums are not the place to make site *suggestions*. I believe the mods have asked people to send thoughts and suggestions (complaints, maniacal rants, etc.) to support.

Personaly the ads don't bother me and the site has to be paid for somehow.

Those who do have a problem, why not contact support and suggest they impliment the ability to pay for a no ads option, thereby generating more revinue. I'm sure if enough of you where interested then it would be something the admin would be willing to consider putting the work in to impliment.

Don't write it off. Sure things sometimes get done slowly but they obviously need revinue to support the running costs so an idea like that could well find itself having a higher priority.

I didn't say that I didn't want ads, I'm in marketing I get it--what I don't like is to see blatant sex pictures---I do see that they have removed those which makes it easier on the eyes--but that is My personal opinion and how do you know I have NOT donated money to the site? You don't.
