You did not give enough options in your survey to really cover all bases, but I will attempt to respond with my opinion.

1) I do not demand other people respect me.

2) I do not necessarily respect a person based on what they state the team they play for, or really for anything they say.

2) Whether I feel a person is deserving of respect is based on what they do, this includes actions, the way they treat themselves, others around them, the world at large, etc.

2) I show respect to everybody. Its just the way I am. I insist that my submissive shows respect to everybody as well. If a person demands to be referred to as Lord God UberDominantSir, I am unwilling to invest much emotional energy into engaging in conflict with them over it.

I am not asking for a general across the board how We treat everyone on a daily basis but what Your spacific BDSM protical taught provides.

We all were taught such commonalities in the vanilla world as a whole Sinergy but Im addressing the Alternate Side of what You were taught aside from the regular vanilla teachings in general manners,respect,proticals,rules. I think the choices are enough and cover a wide range of different training but You can suggest to Me a spacific sentance that You feel I missed and Ill take a look.

Well, the problem I see with the survey, after looking at it more deeply, is as follows.

I go to a play party or a munch, where I am introduced to somebody who tells me they are a submissive. I have no empirical evidence to support this, and go entirely on their say-so. Not really a problem for me, I show respect to everybody and figure he/she may be a submissive, but they are not MY submissive and it is not my place to make demands. So I chat with them and I am polite, etc. Then another person walks up and introduces themselves as a Dominant. Fine with me, I say my name and am polite and chat and the like.

At this same party, some Dominant is introduced to this same submissive and demands he/she go in the other room, get him a beer, and proceeds to insist that He/She be able to use the submissive as he sees fit. I have heard from some who believe that per BDSM protocol rules, the submissive should do these things without question since it is a Dominant telling them to do it.

My point is that the determining factor for BDSM roles in the survey as listed is individual identification, so I am not sure how to go about answering the poll. I could go around the US introducing myself as the Simian in Chief, but I doubt I could get the military to invade Iraq simply on my say-so.

Viewpoints on what a person's role in BDSM (or anything else involving humans) vary widely. A better starting point for these surveys might be "How do you define the role of Dominant in a BDSM setting." Same for submissive. This allows the discussion of protocols to work since everybody comes to some sort of consensus about what the terms mean before we start trying to define what the protocols applying to these roles are.

You missed an important one.

slave/subs must respect their own Dominant and treat the rest as vanilla unless ordered otherwise by their Dominant.

Sorry, can't aswer if that is not an option.

I didnt realize I was telling a story, so allow me to be more succinct.

How do you define "Dominant" in your survey, and please dont use the phrase you used before regarding recognized experience and status since there is no recognized governing board to establish a person's credibility.

Once we can come to a consensus about the definition of "Dominant" it will be possible to do your survey as written.

Interesting reply, although I suspected I would get this response when I asked for the information on a study allegedly done at a respected university, which is used to bolster a person's claims.

I will eventually track it down, if it actually exists. I suspect it did not say it was just as easy for the human mind to read an entire document filled with words that have the letters transposed as not, but that the human brain was able to decipher transposed letters. However, that is my suspicion and I refuse to argue whether it is right or wrong without researching it further.

There is a difference between understanding individual words and deriving a conceptual understanding of a subject. Standardized language forms allow concepts to be transferred from person A to person B so that both can agree on what was said.

Being forced to slog through a grammatically incorrect, poorly proofread and / or "differently spelled" writing tends to detract (my opinion, as well as any number of teachers of writing and education I have had up through graduate school) from the central message. If an individual insists on only presenting their research papers to other people written in ancient Kampuchean or Microsoft Wingdings, I suspect they will not get many people willing to publish and/or read their work. Language is about the transfer of knowledge, an individual who insists on making it difficult to get their message understood by others, will probably be very successful at NOT getting their message across.

I personally dont put much emotional investment in it. I also am usually unable to take it seriously when I read it. One can blame everybody else for not allowing an individual the freedom to write as they wish, if one is in a marching band, and everybody else is out of step with the individual, is it really the rest of the band who are out of step?

I disagree that you are such a sad little man. I actually find your posts to be thoughtful and insightful and a joy to read. This is just my opinion, of course.

The point I was trying to get across is that I really dont care how people want to be referred to as. I should have also mentioned that if same person who insisted I refer to them as LordGodUberDominantSir and I were at a party, I would politely excuse myself at the first opportunity and go find somebody I did not think was a mindless self-important legend in their own mind twit to have a conversation with.

I have a pretty good handle on controlling my inner monologue. I just pick my battles very carefully, and some nimrod insisting on this at a party is not worth (in my opinion) wasting much of the time I have been given in this place on.
