As a newbie switch, I am just curious, how often do y'all flipflop roles? Seems there's a mutiny every few minutes or so around here.... If Y/you want to leave a line, that would be great.

Depends on mood, and desires. Hard to have a mutiny with the subbie tied down

Role dice, pick the winning card, flip a coin. The ways can be endless and only limited by imagination.

It depends on what I want and what my partners want.

When I play with my hubby, the dom, I ask for permission to be in charge. If I get a no, then it's not going to happen. If I get a yes, whoo hoo!

When I play with my sub, Nat, he sometimes asks me if he can take the lead or I invite him to do so.

There are no hard and fast rules here, just experimentation and fun to be had if your lucky enough to have a partner that will let you switch.

i think like all relationships it relies a lot on communication. i've been lucky to have partners on and offline who've enjoyed swapping roles with me. When you have an overactive imagination being one or the other just doesn't cut it. I've had great weekends emerging from the bedroom with a partner, both of us with red bottoms and both of use with huge grins!

It has been my experience that truly 'flipping roles' with the same person is extremely difficult to maintain. There will be times when both are in dominant moods and others when both are in submissive moods. There are two things I have found that work well for me. The first is to have an 'activity' where the boy will be the aggressor. I will direct what he is to do, and require him to do it (which gives him the satisfaction of knowing he is following orders and doing what I wish); however, it allows me the break. Normally, I will do this with anal sex. It is really difficult to be the one in control when you are penetrated from behind. The position alone requires the receiver to be more submissive. Since the sub knows he has his 'duty' to perform, he focuses on that and I'm face down to bury my reactions in the pillow. Once the 'need' has been sated, I will call a halt to the activity and pull back in on the reigns putting him completely back in the subbie role.

The other alternative is having a dominant that I respect to see on occassion when I feel the need for more of the discipline or harder core bottoming activities. It is also a great way to learn new technics and styles to incorporate with a submissive.
