Hello, Having spent most of my adult life in various martial arts, I wanted to throw my $0.02 cents in. A bruise happens when blood vessels break under the skin. These then die (no circulation) and turn blue. The bodies response is to wall the area up with platelets and form what is essentially a scab under the tissue. The body then works from the outside to reestablish blood flow to the area. The way it was explained to me is to rub the bruises out the day or so after, which both hurts like hell and breaks up the platelet wall and allows the body to run blood into the area to clean out the dead stuff and build new live stuff. I had a submissive who was an EMT who said this was horribly dangerous, but could not articulate why. I also have a friend who was a co-instructer at this same studio who is currently working as a doctor who doesnt see any problem with rubbing bruises out at all. Sinergy
