maybe i should be starting a new thread, but i have been reading Your posts in this one, and i have a question. what is the theft You are referring to? is it theft of ISP services? i am just wondering. i am one that likes to know how people are breaking laws, so i can make sure i know the safeguards.

of course, as you have shown with your recent flurry of activity, you Mods are doing great as far as being safeguards, here.

Sanita, what Mod Three is referring to is the use of what is commonly known as "proxies." Without getting too technical, and keeping it in laymen's terms, a proxy is a set of numbers that you place into your browser so that the web site you are visiting does not "see" your actual IP address. This has become quite common lately amongst surfers not wishing to allow websites to gather personal info on them. It is particularly popular when visiting porn sites, and/or any site you wish to keep your activities private.

Is it "illegal" to use proxies? Ha ha, it's no more illegal than spitting on the sidewalk or driving 53 in a 50 MPH zone. Yes it's *technically* illegal in some instances, but in others it's not illegal at all. And as I said, at worst it's like driving 53 in a 50. These proxies are available on the Net on literally hundreds of different websites which offer them for free.

To be prosecuted in ANY way for using a proxy(ies) is virtually impossible. The offended website would have to contact the domain issuing said proxy. Good luck there. Many of these domains don't even offer an accurate email address. And if they did, this would be a nuisance for them. Many don't even keep logs of said activity. And even if they do, bothering to check EVERY IP address which used a given proxy is entirely too much trouble for them. The only way they can be "forced" to cooperate (presuming they even CAN cooperate) is by issuing them a subpoena. Good luck issuing a US subpoena for a matter this irrelevant in a foreign country. If it were a matter of terrorism or a severe case of money laundering, or bank robbery or murder? Yes that's an entirely different matter. But posting a non-threatening message(s) on a BDSM site? Virtually no cooperation will ever be extended.

So is Mod Three correct in calling said use illegal? Yes, technically speaking. But can you get into trouble using them? The odds are slim to none! Should you worry about using proxies to protect your privacy? About as much as you would worry about driving 53 in a 50.

Although you are basically correct in what you have said, you did leave out one important point. Internet service providers are not free. They are paid for on a monthly or by minute basis and that company issues you the isp number or proxie that shows (or does not show) on-line. Almost every company has regulations against abuse and is more then willing to deny a person access. Stalking on-line is a federal offense in the United Sates and is enforced with the co-operation of other countries. Yes I know that stalking and the verbuse outpourings that have been seen here are different....My point is that the internet companies do enforce their regulations.

First, My apologies to Mod 3 for fanning the fire or feeding the beast on the other thread mentioned!! I do not often post here, and I did just by mere happenstance become very engaged in that particular thread. And, since I'm not familiar with those that have a history of problematic postings, I didn't just pack up My responses and leave. Yep, curiousity got the best of Me, as well as some very valuable conversations that were occuring on that thread - all NOT from WW or BQ. And, I must confess I did garner much useful information as well as valid networking via some great post exchanges with some very decent and sincere folks!

But, I did fuel the fire and kept responding as it truly was like a car crash that I just had to watch! *chuckles* Truly, I think it was the fantastic input of many others that made the thread so lenghty. Anyway, My apologies for inadvertantly fueling any fires and I promise to never again feel the trolls in that extensive manner!!

And, I do truly appreciate the sharing of info here, as I confess I momentarily wondered if they all were the same person. Granted, only momentarily!!

Sooooo, no more feedin' the trolls! I promise!!

I read through the TOS. There is no rule against having more then one profile (unless I missed something). I personally get enough mail on one profile, I don't need a second! I don't think it's something that they necessarily hide. However, using multiple profiles in the way that "it" did was definitely annoying to say the least. What you fail to realise is that posting on collarme.com is not a right, posting on collarme.com is a priveledge.
