i've never cooked, eaten, nor been offered black eyes peas. It's never been any part of the New Year's traditions here. A few New Year's traditions i've participated in: 1) Placing coins anywhere outdoors prior to New Year's Day. Some believe that once the coins are gathered afterwards & then spent, better luck regarding financial status will occur. 2) Opening both the front & back doors of the home just prior to the clock striking midnight on New Year's Eve. It is believed that in doing so, any good luck of the New Year will enter the front door while any bad luck or misfortunes of the past year will exit as it is pushed out the back door by the incoming New Year. 3) Taking note of who the first adult man is who enters the home after the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve. Some believe that the status of that man's wealth, and health will dictate what the New Year will bring their way. i participated in the placing of coins outdoors this New Year. i can't recall exactly where in the yard i had put my change. i think it was accidentally kicked off the front step and into the snow or shrubs. Am waiting for the great thaw to take place so i can find it, or for someone else to climb under the shubs in search. ¸,ø¤º°cynnacent°º¤ø,¸ (proudly owned by, and devoted to INSIDEYOURMIND)
