Ok, I'm been all hopped up on pills for the better part of a week. Literally felt like I was dying at times.
Each time I have ventured out of the house to be a normal person and work. I've found out it seems everyone is sick. I kind of sort of wanted to make a poll.
Who is sick and what have you got?

For myself, extreme fatigue. Very sore throat. Most of the congestion is gone. Yet I still feel shitty.

Anyone else sick too?

I have a sore throat. . .could be from smoking. Other than that I feel fine. . .for now. (I'm sure PMS doesn't count toward being ill.)

Feeling just fine here. I can't tell you when was the last time I had the flu or a cold. Sorry, I have a strong immune system.

Don't hate me because I am well I have other things that plague me. Sinus problems and occasional migraines. And since PMS doesn't count, I won't mention it. lol

Of course now that I have said all this, I'm going to be sicker then a dog next week!

Take care & be well,

I have to say that i have a pretty strong immune system also...rarely ill. I have heard from a few people that have been sick at work and other friends that they are taking a new product called "Airborne". The pharmacy's in my area can not keep the stuff in stock. It was created by a second grade school teacher that got tired of getting sick.
The feedback i have gotten from friends is that they will never take anything else from now on....i am just waiting for my pharmacy to get some back in, going to grab some myself for just in case.

Hope y'all feel better and get well soon!!

A natural remedy for the flue is Oscillococcinum, I have been taking it for years and it helps a lot. You can even take it at the sign of the flu and it can help get rid of it even faster. You can find it at some drug stores and most health food stores.
Just as a warning though, it is not for vegetarians or vegans, as it contains poultry by-products (something with protiens or something).

smilezz,
is that something you need a perscription for or can you get it as an over the counter drug?

jill,

This is an over the counter product. I will say that most of the Walgreen stores now keep this and a few other related products behind their 'front' counter...so you need to ask for it.
I just spoke to a friend last night after posting my original comment about this and He said that He and His wife waited in a LINE when the stores shipment came in. Egadzz!

have a great day!

You can also find it online at places like drugstore.com, but you have to pay for shipping.
Most Walgreens stores will hold items for you and let you know when their delivery truck comes in, some will even call you when they have your item (sorry, shameless plug for my place of employment )

I don't think Pamprin can help with Pre Meditated Sadism. That was the PMS you were referring to, wasn't it?

Well, here we go starting a new week still with the same cold. It has mutated quite a few times into completely different symptoms though.
Today, its fatigue. That is about the only symptom that has remained through out the entire flu so far.
I went from fever to sore throat...to runny nose...to blurred vision. Never really having more than one symptom at a time. Last night the sore throat was back. This morning was the first time I've ever been congested.
Tonight, I'm just tired. At least my vision is back. I can be thankful for something.

Once the kids return to school in September, they bring home all kinds of lovely little nasties, like little walking germ factories. Working within a 'hands on' profession involving the public doesn't help either. i've had the same cold since the first week in November. i think it has morphed a few times, sneezy, fatigued, congested coughing, sore throat here and there, ... post nasal drip ... yuck, ick. Treatment has varied from Dayquil Cold Caps, to ignoring it and hoping it will go away sometime before next spring.

I treated both of My daughters for flu and severe cold symptoms with Occili-coccinum for years. (Didn't tell My veggie daughter about the poultry by products - LOL) It really does help a lot, and I swear by it.
Interesting thought....you have to sign a release that includes you don't have allergies to egg products to get a flu shot, and we all know about the good old-fashioned remedy of chicken soup. There is a lot of truth in the homeopathic way.
BTW, don't insist on antibiotics unless you have a true bacterial infection that will respond to them. They just suppress the immune system further. If you do have to take a course of them, get yourself to a health food store and stock up on some mutidophilis or acidophilus to put the good bacteria back into your system when your done. Sometimes that can really help to boost the immune system back up and fight off the next round. Echinacea and zinc can help, and I am a true herbal tea person also.
No flu shot this year, and so far so good.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I have never once gotten a flu shot and I have never gotten the flu. I also work in a preschool and have pretty much every childhood illness from the flu to common colds to chicken pox pass my way every year.
I take Echinacea every day and Occili-coccinum (didn't know there was a dash in it, thanks ) if I ever see even the smallest sign of the flu. It's worked for me for about 16 years (since I was 5) and I'm sure for many centuries before that so why pump my body full of artificial chemicals?
