outside of a scene, i tend not to go for nicknames too much...but during a scene, depending on what's being done it changes...if i'm being taken with a strap on or similar, i like to be called a whore or slut. in other situations it really depends on who's calling me what...part of it is that i want the Domme to call me what She wants...whether she calls me boy, slave, bitch or whatever is irrelevant.
Just as in vanilla life, some people may call someone named James, Jim, Jimmy, Jamey, James, Jamie or whatever..and depending on who's calling them they may like a different nick.
Not sure if that really answers it for you, but that's my mindset.
