Status: offline 		How many of you still do or do the "Victorian" tea parties? ( this thought was spurred by MsSonnetMarwood's profile--smiles)--Do you have a specific format you use? What has worked? Not worked? I have always wanted to do one--I'm curious to hear other experiences.

It's been a while since I did one where I had subs serving, but they were a lot of fun when we did. Interviewing potential servants taught me a LOT about the process of interviewing subs - and gave me a LOT of funny stories to boot.

Our single biggest issue was finding subs interested in serving at them without "play" as an immediate reward.

The second was finding a good time for mutual friends to get together (usually my fault - I've always worked odd hours and a lot of them to boot).

I just joined twistedteas.org, and am looking forward to the real time tea parties in Northern California, for both the comaraderie of the Dominas and the naked servers.

...for those that do not know, "Tea Parties" refers to an afternoon social event where Dommes gather for tea, sandwiches, conversation and potential play---they are served by their naked or semi naked submissive/slaves----

I actually always had the subs respectfully clothed.

Other than the basic issues of having naked subs handling food (I have a food safety certification so unhygenic food prep really skeeves me), there is the issue of something I experienced at a tea I went to that I did not run. While the other subs were clothed (mostly of the sissy maid variety), one male sub showed up in a leather body harness & thong kinda thing. Every time he bowed to one Lady, he basically shoved his hairy ass toward another Lady.

Talk about off-putting when you're trying to enjoy a scone and Darjeerling.

I would love to do something like this.

My idea would be to first have all the sub/slaves attend some butler/service classes so that they are serving correctly. Then set up a monthly round robin. The afternoon would also include a topic where the Domina who is hosting the party would either educate us on or demo a toy, technique or philosophy of D/s.

Have to admit that this would be an interesting class to teach. Martha Stewart for kinks....ROFLMAO.

I've been to a number of high teas that were oh so boring especially because I HATE cucumber sanwiches. This would be an interesting twist with a nice tea service.

I have vivid memories of my mother hosting 'tea parties' out in the gardens of the family homestead (and I'm only twenty *laughs) The wives off the surrounding farms would all come, and the silver tea-service would come out, along with all the little cakes and sandwiches and we'd play games and such. It was wonderful. I'd always get dressed up, and it would be a time for me to spend some time with my mother and the other ladies, and for her to break the routine of farm work.

My dad and the seven boys would make themselves scarce for a few hours, or would serve and then make themselves scarce down the farm or would go to a neighbours or into town to let the ladies enjoy a break.

Sadly, we stopped hosting them when my mother died-and it fell on other neighbours to host them but over Christmas last year, my father suggested that, as I was visiting for a few weeks, perhaps I should hold one, it was a lovely experience and when I go home in a few weeks, as my father is selling the family farm, I'll be hosting one last final tea-party on the grounds. Though this one is to be a male/female joined event.

Pity I won't be able to have the naked boys and girls serving though ;)

Status: offline 		I've been lucky enough to attend a tea or two held by the ladies of TwistedTeas. I hope to one day be able to host one.

A true delight. I'd actually like them to get even more formal - but honestly they do SUCH a fine job at the teas that I couldn't ever complain.

Status: offline 		Just a general note: "High Tea" is not the correct term for a more formal tea, although it's often used incorrectly as such.

High tea is actually more of a workingman's supper, eaten around 6 pm, that would be heartier as befitting needs of those returning home after manual labor. It was eaten at the dinner - or "high" - table, hence the name.

Well, my secret is out. I am a tea geek. I have over 100 books on afternoon tea (recipes, history, lore, etc) in my library, close to 20 teapots, brew my evening cuppa (morings I need coffee) in a pot from loose leaves.
