Master vs Dom Reposted: If you look at all those sub vs slave threads about- the same exact thing can be applied to the master/dom discussion. Every person you ask will give you a different answer. Whatever you decide for yourself, many people will tell you that you are wrong. For me a dom is someone who is oriented in personal intimate relationships to be fulfilled by having authority over another in an ongoing basis. A master/mistress is someone who is oriented in personal intimate relationships to be fulfilled by having all ultimate authority over another that is possible.

V, the only thing that I would add is Master refers to the Male Dominant in a Master/slave relationship. They are usually more strict than a Dom and are usually involved with a slave. Just my 2 cents... 1st Girl Phoenix True.. Master tends to refer to the "Master" in a M/s relationship. Whether they are more strict than another D/s type relationship, that is up to the people involved in the relationships. I've met "Daddies" who were very strict and "Masters" who were rather lienient. Personally, I think people just use the "label" that makes them feel comfortable in the D/s relationship they're in or the "label" that fits the fantasy they've built up in their heads. I'm more lenient with terms.. aka Don't really care what people really call themselves (actions speak volumes).. but I have a hard time accepting someone saying they're a "Master" if they have no collared subs or slaves.. I tend to agree with the husband/wife analogy someone had earlier. V
