I'm actually reading the Mistress Manual but would appreciate local booksellers like waterstones to sell it as you cannot just walk in and purchase lifestyle books very annoying have to be ordered.

A novel featuring an intelligent, literate dom/me and sub which takes them through the intricacies of negotiation and the mundanities of real life but which also has a lot of hot bdsm scenes in it.

Unfortunately i do not own a credit card to allow myself to order books online i did try and order screw the roses send me the thorns through my local booksellers and they couldnt get it - there is a need for our lifestyle books to be on display in booksellers why are they so ashamed to stock them i wonder ?

U can get books on sex positions etc is our lifestyle still so taboo

Want some mundane stuff?

Try david stein's "Carried Away" -- several reviewers and readers complained that it was "too mundane" but it is rather realistic. And LONG by the way.

Personally, way too many of the "expert" books I've seen tend to be really naive in their writing and show an inability to realize that not everyone experiences bdsm "their" way. I've come across a few good ones here and there, but I'm forever forced to remember the one time I was at a bdsm party and approached by a woman who had written one of the books on the bdsm required reading lists of that time. She started talking to me about how her publisher wanted her to update her book, and asked me (mainly because I was a known slave entity because I happened to be collared by a very sought after professional domme who didn't give such interviews) if I had any thoughts. I said perhaps she might want to focus a bit more on the Internet community. Her response: "There's a bdsm presence on the Internet?"

Right then and there I decided my Mistress had a good reason for not talking to these people. They often know less than the rest of us, even though the rest of us are nowhere near experts in our own minds.

I think if you asked most people (especially online) what kind of BDSM literature they want, they'd respond:

"Free literature."

A history of the evolution of D/s culture. I would like to read about elements that influenced the lifestyle, and the people who lived it.

I'm also a sucker for historical romances that involve BDSM elements and some real historical facts thrown in.

I'd like to see polyamorous D/s relationships explored both in non-fiction and in fiction. While I am curious about leather families, I'd actually like to see information on other variants of poly relationships too.
