Self bondage has always been a specialized area, fraught with danger and yet an ingredient in understanding one's submission in a particular way, without a Dominant/Master being present. I would be interested in gathering ideas for tasks for self bondage.

What is the task?
How safe is it?
How is it done (procedures, materials, in what setting)?
On a strictness scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being simple and 5 being most difficult and strict, where would you rate this self bondage task?
Have you done this with yourself or had a slave/sub do this for you? If so, how'd it go?

Ive done my own self bondage things, on a semi-regular basis, not because of being submissive, but simply because I like it. (Friends have described me as a Dominant with a masochistic streak, which is probably true.)

Tied myself, hands together to neck, portable. Easy, dangerous if you dont know how to tie unmovable knots. (2, need to know your knots.) Also did with lengths of chain with connector ends. Much easier and safer unless you rest a nerve on it. (1)

Slept in similar above set up, relatively safe, could be dangerous, same reason, resting on nerves. Also tossing and turning, can't predict how you will wake up. (3)

Tied self spread eagled to bed on stomach and back. Difficult, takes dogged persistence and patience. Left plenty of wiggle room inside bonds. Slept in it. Relatively safe, could be dangerous, again because of resting on nerves, so make sure wrists and feet are elevated such that pressure is not put on nerves. Can become uncomfortable for people who are not used to sleeping thus. I am. I sleep on my back and stomach all the time. Sleeping on my sides is uncomfortable. (4)

Resting against bounds on nerves can lead to nerve damage and loss of feeling, as most people know already. So far though the only nerve damage I've suffered is a work related pinched nerve injury. I guess I'm just lucky.

Honestly, materials: 2 lengths 8th grade graduation rope, academic ribbons, patience, creativitiy and not uncomfortable with the idea of being cheap ass ghetto. Then, the Hot Topic pants chain.

I guess this area is even more specialized than I suspected. Thanks for your contribution, slipstreme.

time release cuffs are available. Do a google, about $150 aussie.

time switches for electrical sytems are cheap as chips, ie lights set to go on at certain times revealing a written on wall combination to a padlock that is securing you. Requires two people though. Good for the long cageings etc

a not so much self bondage, but self pain stimulus i found interesting when single, was to use nipple clamps with a chain joining them, then bend over a candle, the chain heats in the middle and spreads slowly ever closer to the clamps. Marvelous fun for bean flickers and wankers of the chocolate variety.

im not that edgy, so these maybe a bit tame?
