WHy is it that there are so many lost souls out there that have to lie and pretend to be someone else? WHy can they not just state who they are and what they really want? There has to be someone out there for them.
Having been on this site for some time now I am qualified to state that there are more phonies out there than legitimate people looking for actual experiences.
In Ohio, we have met people who lied about looks, age, experiences and the like. Many pretend to be women who collect pics. It's really sad. It's not like we are seeking the perfect person, but this gets frustrating.

Well, i agree Ohio is no fun; but i think people are the same everywhere. What Y/you want is a bit special -- as it should be -- but there is a concurrent wait time for the right one. Although i agree, why lie about how you look and then MEET people? Geez, come clean 1st.

Funny, when I attended Ohio Leatherfest each year, I met a lot of nice people so there must be a bunch of them in the state.

yup, but they are like you... coming to the Leatherfest all from out of state *w*... it's so sad really.... ohio such a barren place for kink *g*... but it is a rather central locations for all those in the states around it... a good meet location!

truesub4u -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/21/2006 10:34:03 AM)

I use to live in Findley Ohio and I have to say... I have never in my whole life lived in such a boring town. OMG.. biggest excitement there was when a woman ran a red light and hit the side of my car. The whole damn police department responded to this. As I teen I lived a short while in Mountpelier Idaho... for a 1 red light in whole damn town full of Mormons... it was more fun, and kinky than Findley was.... LOL

Lycanthrope216 -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/21/2006 10:45:35 AM)

I'd have to strongly disagree. I am very real and have met some very real ppl in NE ohio. And have had some wonderful sessions.

I've written you both several times on this site and have responded to your winks on A L T as well.

Even a sub fem friend has said you've contacted her several months ago.

So my biggest suggestion would be to 1. be More clear in your profile in terms of what you're looking for 2. Go to local bdsm groups (ohio smart has a meeting tonight - and the new purple rose society is in the akron area) 3. dont be so quick to make such a broad comment about ohio.

I don't mean this to be offensive.

truesub4u -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/21/2006 10:50:07 AM)

ok ... my mistake.. i don't live in Ohio now. I live in North Carolina. One of those times i should of kept my mouth shut. [;)]

candystripper -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/21/2006 10:52:22 AM)

LOL; i'm in Cleveland and it really sucks, but i think the worst place i ever lived was Flint, MI. An industrial town of about 20,000 where damn near everyone was unemployed. Lordy.

sweet whispers, how far is Findley? Can we meet for shopping?

I'm not sweetwhispers... LOL.. just same avatars i think.

Findley is on I-75.

Aileen68 -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/21/2006 12:38:51 PM)

Any messages involving Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Singapore, Ohio, wiring money, online
escrow services, or cashiers checks are scams and should be ignored. Be wary of
requests for your personal email address or money from people you just met.

Well there's your mistake...you didn't read the warning when you sent your email.
Everyone knows that Ohio is full of fakes.

It's not just in Ohio, it's everywhere. There are people that get off on that sort of thing. You just have to stop focusing on the negative one's and focus instead on the positive. They are out there, they just don't flaunt themselves like the phonies do.

I noticed the same thing, John. Columbus had TWO BDSM clubs, not to mention one night club that reserved a night for BDSM.

NavyDDG54 -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/21/2006 3:25:56 PM)

I am sort of biased against Ohio(being from Ann Arbor, Michigan tends to have that effect on you) but I have actually met several great people in the lifestyle from Ohio, some I met in the Navy, others I met when I was home.

I don't think Ohio is any different from the other 49 states (& DC) or 10 provinces and 3 territories (Canada).

Will you be back this year?

michaelGA -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/23/2006 6:26:38 PM)

i'm in Columbus, GA myself...not sure how many phonies there are here as i have not had the luxury of going places to meet them...there's quite a few joining CM lately from here, yet they all seem to be silent types. not even a freindly hello has been answered.

KittenWithaTwist -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/23/2006 6:33:29 PM)

Read Padraig's recent post.

Then realize two things about humans:

1) They're only human.
2) They aren't perfect.

siamsa24 -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/23/2006 6:39:14 PM)

[:(] We all hate it, but there are some people (like me) that have little choice.

And I don't consider myself to be a fake, even if I am from Ohio.........

FTopinMichigan -> RE: Phonies in Ohio (1/24/2006 6:54:00 AM)

I have had complete strangers (online) accuse "me" of being "phoney" when I rejected them. There initial contact, or subsequent dialogue between us was evident of no love connection. [:D] The "thanks, but no thanks" e-mail then prompted the accusation of being "fake," "phoney," or even of being a man ('cause apparently EVERY woman would blindly accept these men).

I think the terms (fake, phoney, etc.) are used to freely to label someone that just has no interest in someone.

I feel that everyone is here for some reason, whether that's to actually meet people (for real), or just to "play" online. I don't think that really makes them phoney, as much as searching from something other than we may be seeking.
