And i'm sure alot of ppl will say "but i want something deep down but i cant" i honestly dont think they are truely looking. They're seeing what they want to see, not what the truth is.

I think the looking is the problem. If we are looking for something in particular, we often go blind to the solutions in other forms

I don't believe in mind over matter as regards to healing at all. I have known people who tried and believed that they could beat cancer, yet they died horrible deaths.

I do think visualization can help you perform in a certain way. John Smoltz, the Atlanta Braves pitcher, saw a psychologist who would have him visualize throwing the pitch perfectly before he actually threw the ball. It seems to work for him.

I started working on visualization after reading that and use a baseball as my stimulus. I concentrate on a baseball with my eyes closed until I can actually see one, then I tell myself what I want. Usually, it is something like I will be confident and friendly in this or that situation.

i believe in both because i have seen them set in my life. The ones that stand out in my life was the more unpleasant things i was leading myself away from.

i believe in where there is a will there is a way. Because i know when i am dead set on something, nothing stops me. No matter the odds. i ALWAYS find a way. if i want something, nothing stops me. if i really really want it.. there really is nooooooo way to stop me. Which in my mind, is why i can confidently say i always get what i want. Honestly too, sometimes what i want is for some one else to be happy.

When i have the will, i WILL find a way. Which is why i dont believe in the word "cant" its wont. Its never you "cant" its that you wont. Because you CAN you just do not WANT too. Or you just dont want to suffer the consequences or put in the effort, ect.

RG, I too stand with you there. Over some 37 years I've watched numerous cases where the power of a trained mind can overcome or bend matter ti it's will under some circumstances, not every time and not in all cases. I am more than aware of the strength when there are several mindes linked in unison and what they can do. Yet all are human and as such have human frailities. I have seen the effect when a group of people using their belief system has for all extents and purposes aided in healings to a point which has left respectable medical wondering why the medical problem was repared/healed long before expectation. Perrsonally I have the utmost faith in my own deity (Bless her) and know how with her help I have healed from life threatening wounds/injuries way before expected time. Still like everything in life some will believe and others will not Neither are right and neither are wrong it's all personal after all.

I believe in "mind over matter" but I also know that this can be taken too far. We can try to rationalize, ignore our matterful gut feelings and overprocess to the point of driving ourselves in sane.

It's also hardly ever as easy as just convincing yourself. It takes time to break down thought processes and rebuild new ones. It takes time and work to change perspectives and move your mind.

Ah thats completely different subject. LOL Because if you already want to, you dont need to convince yourself.

Iron Bear.. i believe in myself. i believe in the power of my mind. i also happen to know that i am not even using a large part of it, like the rest of us. And i believe that the "rest" of that mind can do amazing things. i believe its also possible to tap into the rest of the brain. Only because of silly little things. Like the people i am truely connected with, i know its them calling with out going near the phone. That technically should nto be possible. i know the mind is complicated and if i analyze somethings too much i usually end up burning myself. heh. i also believe that if one were actually able to access their complete mind, things like making spoons bend would not be difficult. Heh, and from my human development class i also believe that when it comes to synapsis', if you dont use them you lose them! So yet, while i believe in myself and the power of my mind, i also am realistic about my limitations.

Aye RG, I completely agree with you. The mind is one of the great resourses still untapped to it's limitations (probably just as well seeing what a great job we are doing fucking up the world generally).

I'm just waiting for some smartass to make the obvious comment: "I don't mind and you don't matter" Anyway this has been one of the most interesting threads I've visited for quite some time, my thanks for starting it.
