So i'm with Bob; the dictionary is FUBAR; we all know dignity when we see it; we all crave the respect we are due; and at times, we all get f**ked over due to some reason or another.

Good to see you again. I missed you. However, I think you misunderstood my post. The dictionary definition works fine for me.

Same here Bob.
Like it or not The Dictionary gives meaning to words.
Dignity means what it means.
It is what it is......Simple.....

You can not demand dignity, you can not command dignity, it can not be given nor taken away.

We all have a basic human dignity inherent within us ... it is something we carry ... that we see in ourselves. That wee recognize in others. It is in ALL people, just sometimes we choose NOT to see it, or they choose to desperately hide it.

respect is a different animal altogether.

Just trying to help here, it felt like some people needed a refresher course.

sorry fergus, i still gotta go with the dictionary on this one, even if ye are wearing green.

Ah, yes ...

but nowhere does that dictionary dispute what I am saying about where dignity comes from.

And respect IS a different animal, they are merely using many modifiers and qualifiers to try to zero in on dignity.

One can say all the nice pretty words they want to try and dignify themselves and their actions but.... Words are empty and it doesnt give them dignity just because they say it does.

Actions do speak louder. You will always return to the core, those pretty and not-so-pretty elements that make up your personality - - no words can hide that for long.

dignity is not inherent in being human; we've seen plenty of simian behaviour from the casa blanca on down. rather it's something that is either acquired or not. c'est tout.

Very correct KatyLied. Actions do speak louder than words. And the core of any individual will eventually rear its ugly head again.

finding words in a book is ok i guess...but i prefer my own definitions..piss on that dictionary.
i live by my own set of rules.

You'd never make it through the Supreme Court confirmation hearings with this kind of radical thinking.

I don't see it as radical. To me, it's just a brazen defense for intellectual laziness.
