Not being religious, Christmas is simply about love and joy for me, that is, when I am in the mood for it. It's been hit & miss the last few years, and it usually ends up better when I don't expect much from it. But this year will be special because I will spend it with my brother. And afterwards, I'll be with the man I adore... I have a feeling that these holidays will be incredibly memorable.

Oh and January first, I always celebrate my cat's birthday though he usually has no clue what is going on... He's just all "oh! new toy! purr purr purr!".

Ok you got me on that one. Although I've been known to head to the barn
with a bag of carrots or even pepermints to toss in the feed buckets, one of
the grown demon spawn has take it to new heights. As kids what they looked
forward to most was their stockings openable at anytime they woke, filled
with trinkets they could eat or play with. So now that's she grown and
finally taken up Mom's hobby each horse now has their own Stocking.
So, traditions evolve too. Sometimes strangly.

I have a very small family now... just my sister her husband, and my Master and me. For a few years I hated the holiday season and felt empty and lonely for the entire month of December.
^Two years ago I decided to change my attitude and adopt a new set of traditions.
I handmake all of my presents and deliver them on Christmas Eve while singing carols off key...
I make tray favors for meals on wheels clients, and (with my co-workers) adopt a family through the Christmas Bureau.
Because my cats would tear a tree apart, I decorate a tree and donate it to my local festival of trees. I also try to do at least one shift of volunteer time at the same Festival.
Christmas isn't about me anymore.. it is about other people.

Ever consider becoming a foster parent? So many people in the world need love.
It's a big job but if more caring people did it the world would be a better place.
Christmas has always been about other's for me. I've always had a job of some sort so pretty much always had whatever I wanted. When it came to writing a list..it was usually pretty empty.
The only thing I never had was my family during the year. Siblings were much, much older. So, it has been what I've strived for my entire life. As people pass on you learn to modify what you once had just as you have.
You just haven't went quite as drastic as I have yet.
