Lam, Bob, I'm a little suprised at your attitudes here. Are you in reality saying that Six or anyone else shouldn't come in here and ask querstions for their general education? We all know that Six, like me is Gorean, may be I best confine any questions I have to the Gorean Forum and all posts too. Is this the way things will be? I truely have no problems if CM wants to adopt a "Us & Them" policy separating all the BDSM folk from Goreans, but is you guys who will suffer for you wont be able to come over and stir us up..

I haven't responded to any of Six's threads so far because I figured everything I'd say had already been said. However, I don't think anyone is suggestion that he or anyone else shouldn't be able to ask questions to their heart's content. What people do notice is what appears to be a chronic behaviour pattern. I'm not sure why Six is so motivated to post repeatedly about the same or similar topics but like anyone else he should expect people to call him on BS if that's what they feel it is. I don't see him being treated any differently than anyone else. In fact, I can think of a couple of other posters in recent months who were told to knock it off because their incessant posting was driving people nuts. I'd say Six is being treated just like anyone else.

I had no idea that there was some kind of us/them separation between Goreans and non-Goreans......... There are many Gorean followers here in Michigan, and they fit in with every other variation of the lifestyle with no problem at all. Maybe it's an internet thing! :)

Our honorifics are self-bestowed, as a lady previously pointed out. I respect that many people have them, but I am not going to try and match everyone's version of protocol. Everyone gets the same courtesy, regardless of orientation or lifestyle type.

Let's call it The Politeness Syndrome!

I'm probably wrong, but after reading all the threads, Six appears to be looking at things from different perspectives which were not always covered in previous posts. In retrospect, It may have been better for him to thing out the original post and ask several questions. However I am not Six and not everyone does things as I have a tendency to do (thank God for that). BTW, if you go back to my post in reply to Lam, you'll find that I was pulling his and Bob's leg about the Us & Them situation...

G'day Lam,

Yeah I know and I was not unhappy about you posting in the Gorean Forum, I for one enjoyed you posts. I didn't always agree with you thats all.

Grab a Fosters and relax mate you should know me well enough by now to know I was grabbing yours and Bobs leg and giving them a jerk to get a responce... You know the Them and Us thing would never work, we all have friends in both areas for that to happen....

Hey, maybe LaM, Oscar, and I could carpool down to Oz someday for those beers around the fire.

Actually, I have seen what the OP describes, to a rare. degree. Some submissives, whom, before they found their Master/Mistress would "Sir, Ma'am", "Master/Mistress" everyone in sight, suddenly decide that now that they have been claimed, they not only can drop the facade of being generally polite, but can now be as rude as they like to whomever they please. I think it might stem from their own insecurities, wanting to make sure everyone knows that they are now "owned", and have advanced beyond such actions. Some people seem to feel a need to make a strong distinction between their owned and pre-owned status <sounds like a used car commercial>. Some, when not owned, are obsequeous to all, defferential to all, polite to all, aware that their actions are being watched possibly by potential owners. Once that onus is removed, their true colors show. On the other hand, some are aware that their actions, when owned, reflect not only on themselves, but on their owners. Those that are aware of this, I've noticed tend to be polite in general to all, not just a specific subset such as Masters or Mistresses. Our definitions of polite, of course, may differ.
I am a member of our local Gorean community, though Master and I do not consider ourselves Gorean. Our philosophy is closer to that of the Goreans that it is to most of the BDSM population, however. I can see where a Gorean, who expects a certain type of protocol, could be rather put off by the lack of it, from the general BDSM populous. But, on the other hand, I don't think that its realistic to think that all will conform to the protocol you prefer. One learns to develop a thicker skin, if one is to comfortably interact with those from all walks of life. Those who do not, tend to be insular and stick to that which makes them the most comfortable. Nothing wrong with either way, I don't think.

Why on earth would I want to address someone whom I don't submit to as "Sir" or "Master"? That is a title he has given himself. It has nothing to do with me. I don't care what he calls himself. He is a "Sir" or "Master" in his own eyes, not necessarily my eyes. And why does it bother you so much? I can be respectful without having to use an honorific that you've bestowed upon yourself.

Knew there was a reason I liked you Katy! It isn't a "given" title, but a "chosen" one. Those who "choose" to call someone that is free to do so, based on either their personal preference or the rules set forth for them by THEIR master. The continuance "confusion" over the presumption of disrespect because it doesn't agree with someone else's personal opinions in post after post after post is getting really old.
