Status: offline 		I just wanted to share some good news. Tonight I proposed to SMS and she accepted (duh) and we are both just flying high (engagement to be married and no kids this weekend).

I'm curious - how many other D/s or M/s couples here feel that a ring goes with a collar? When I collared SMS , I said to myself: "If you are that serious about her - ownership - then you are ready and willing to be legally bound in a civil and legal sense as well." Well, I found the right ring finally, and altough it is not sized down to her hand yet, it still looks wonderful on her finger (with a ringuard).

How many other folks here in M/s or D/s relationships are married, or plan to marry?

I'm not religious, so marriage really doesn't have any emotional or spiritual bonds for me. I also feel no social pressure to be seen as a married settled women. Thus would only be for financial and legal benefits.

Since I am openly poly, the person I would choose to marry would be my life partner, which isn't necessarily the same as a master. Again, since marriage would only be for the financial and legal benefits, my married partner would not take priority over my obligations as a slave.

As per the question - that would require me living in a place with legalized same-sex marriage. I don't have any immediate plans to move to Massachusetts, Canada, Spain, or the Netherlands, so that seems a bit unlikely at this point in time. This isn't to say that I wouldn't want a spiritually binding, but not legal, handfasting - I'd probably insist on it if the person was really that close to me - but marriage in the strictly legal sense is highly improbable.

As for me and marriage, will not something I am looking at, but might be a possiblity. Who knows. I am looking for one who I can be with for the rest of my life. A nice submissive male who will serve properly. Guess it would depend on how I feel towards said sub in hmmmm 2 years. It might happen and it might not. But, for him my collar should be enough until I made that kind of desicion. It will be something I would ask him about, and how he feels about marriage and being married to His Mistress.

Who knows?

Status: offline 		Congratulations. i feel that a collar and the ring are symbols ... i think they can go hand in hand.. i have been married before and for the first time have been collared by my Master. i don't know if Master and i will marry and frankly it won't make a difference in my commitment to my Master. i am owned by Him and getting married won't change that or make my commitment any stronger.

Such a beautiful ring for your lovely slave/wife. I find your relationship to be inspiring. I have a happy smile on my face now.

My ideal: to be owned as a slave, cherished as a woman, and a devoted wife to a master/husband. I would adore to give myself completely and serve him forever. He'd be my hero :)

Congratulations to the both of you... and what a beautiful ring!!!

I'm not married to my Master. Quite honestly, if it were not for the legal protections offered by marriage, I'm not sure I'd want to be. While I think it's wonderful when two people find each other and want to take that step to legally validate their loving relationship, my experience has been that love has a tendency to get in the way of the Master/slave dynamic I need in order to feel fulfilled.

But that's just me.

I hadn't thought about same sex marriages - you bring up a really good point. It is my sincere hope that soon you will be able to choose to marry the person you love without regard for their gender (and my expectation as well - bet you a case of Sam Adams that it wil be legal in your state within 5 years).

In answer to your question, Master and I have no current plans to be married but he knows it is something I would enjoy. I am not religious but I would love to take his name as the ultimate surrender to our love and devotion. I think its wonderful that you have decided to take this step and I wish you the best of luck. :)

Faramir, my best wishes to you and SMS!

I am single, and have no desire for a M/s or D/s relationship OR to get married ....BUT...if I were married (as I've learned never to say "never"), my view of this could change, along with the commitment required to enjoy both the D/s relationship, and the marriage.
