I'm not going to tell my submissive that she has to get rid of her Dog. After all it's apart of her along with the stuffed animals, flowers, and Tinker Bell pajamas. On the other hand, I'm still keeping my Spider, gargoyals, dark candles, and black robe. We are not in this relationship together to change each other but to grow together and perhaps we equal each other out as well. If she's a spring butterfly, then I'm a spider in the dark corner.

When it comes to finding THE ONE, that's what I like about meeting them online. You already get to ask what they like and can tolerate. You know if they have allergies to pets as well. In some cases, people go with there pets instincts. If you and an animal aren't getting along, the other may view that as a Red Flag. Other than that, sometimes a dog might want to protect a sub during a session or punishment phase. What dose the Dom do then?

Anyhow, if you are talking to someone and the flat out say "I don't like animals" when you are a pet lover, the idea of "That's the One for me" goes out the window and you move on to the next person.

hmmm. i wouldn't give up my dog. I was with someone when I got Darius, and I didn't let that guy take him away when we split...lol. i'll make my dog leave my bed for the night if someone's uncomfortable with him there while we sleep, but not my life.

In fact, when I give out a pic of myself, it's a pic of me and my dog.

now granted, he's 9 lbs, who can really have a problem with that?...might be a different story when i get the King Dob I want.

as for allergies, there are anti hestimines (sp?) you can take. the only REAL issue i can see arising is if the other person had an animal and the two did NOT get along at all. that would suck.

and you can always close a door if an animal feels protective. my dog is incredibly protective of me (especially for his size) but when i'm at my loudest he doesn't budge. if i trust the person and he doesn't sense real duress from me, he's cool.

Nope my animal(s) And I are a package deal want me Want or at least tolerate my dog. animals are a huge source of joy in my life. and I am not interested in any one who doesn't share that or at least want to let me continue that joy.

Wow! I'm impressed with all the devout Pet owners here. I've got two black labs and wouldn't give them up for anyone. A person couldn't ask for two better friends.

That's true for me...there are animal people, and no animal people. I will always have pets of the non-human variety, and I can't see taking on a pet of the human variety who had no love for them.

You don't have to love them as I do (I can't see my lovebird Gremlin allowing anyone but me to be affectionate with him) but you absolutely have to accept them.

This has caused some contention in some areas of people I know. Firstly I agree full heartedly. We are a home and as such our female malamute if part of the family. Now here is where it gets interesting. I rule the home (Alpha Male), then there is my Free Companion/Wife (Alpha Female), then there is our Malamute ~ Sasha (Alpha Bitch).. after that there is kajirae then subs (visiting or collared to us, the hierachy never changes.)

I am committed to Otis and Daisy for life. I would not have taken them on otherwise. They are not objects or possessions, and they don't exist merely for my amusement.

This will never be an issue for me, since I don't pursue relationships with people who treat animals like appliances.

I think what you just said sums up my feelings better than anything.

When you buy/adopt a pet they are your responsibility, the same as a child would be. You are commiting to take care of them for the rest of their life.

I wanna say more:

Not that they don't amuse me a HELLUVA lot...they do! But they are each the center of their own universe, no more or less important than I am. I guess this is just a fancy-ass way of saying that I love them. I really do, as much as it is possible to love anyone, that's how much I love Otis and Daisy. They take really good care of me.

Hello geargirl...
I have been an animal person all my life, have never lived without them, so that would be out of the question. I'm really happy that MsN is an animal person, but that is one of the first issues I talk about, I would never be able to part with my animals. My fish maybe but never my dog and cats.

I wouldn't want to be in any kind of relationship with someone who doesn't like my animals. Of course I don't have any vicious animals. If I did I might understand and feel differently.

Are you Kidding me? It is much harder to find a decent pet than it is a stupid slave! My cats are worth more than any self-centered male slut I have ever ran accross!!

I really don't trust people who don't like animals. And I would trust them even less if they wanted me to get rid of mine, Sorry my pets are family and they love without pretense. They always make you feel better when you are down (they just know). Humans on the other hand...........

No I would not, I would just call it quits and tell him that he is a good person, but it just won't work out.

It was the first serious topic i brought up to the Mistress. No, i would not give up my dog, nor would i think highly of the Mistress if She were willing to give up Her cats. We accepted responsibility for these critters. That shouldn't be wished away. If it's meant to be, we'll find a way to handle any pet issues.

My furballs are my babies. Granted they all live with me at my parent's home... but there is one of them that I would be taking with me when I move to a new place. Gizmo is my naughty monkey, loud mouthed Siamese bratness. He's my sexy little man.

I'm up front with people about my views on "compatibility issues". Alcohol, drugs, smokes of various kinds, religion, marriage, sex and unmentionables are all areas where I need for the other person to see eye to eye with me. Same goes for fuzzy babies...

If he did not like my dog, he would not be the right person...after all the dog and I have been together for 10 years.
