i LOVE explaining all about BDSM to newbies. Good Golly. Especially S/m Cos i found A WAY around the societal view ons it.
Tell some that Sadist is a person who is turned on by viewing or giving pain and a masochist is a person turned on by being in pain.. well they think you are nuts.
So i break it down, Ever had candle wax dripped on you? Any biting? Like pulling or having your hair pulled?
All those things hurt..... yet feeeeeeeeeeeel so good. (I link the possiblity of pain and pleasure in their mind)
And then expand on it. Like to smack your girl's butt? Or like to have your butt smacked? Well a spanking is that but plus. And i aslo mention there is mild, moderate and extreme.
i class BDSM into 5 Catagories with sub catagories

i go on to explain everything and in my explanations i make it all gender neutral, explain the differece of names and titles. Ect. Usually with Poly i just direct them to sources. (though i just found myself explaining it.. seems i know more then i realise)
and WITH EVERY PERSON i leave a disclamier!! LOL That is all really perspective and that this is my perspective, and that between two people and each situation it can be all different. Just a guidline. Then i send them all over here to the collarme forums siting it as a great resource. Being as it is one of the places i have learned so much from.
