For me it's about family more than anything else. It's about the only time we are all together anymore. This year our 28 year old daughter is bringing a new boyfriend home with her, so that should be interesting. She says he's "the one", we'll see.

For the last 10 or 12 years, Christmas had been a rarity for me due to various deployments while on active duty. This year, I am 99.9% confident that I will be home for the holidays, so I plan to have some wonderful quality time with my family. (Family= Me, my slave, and my cat.) It's been a looong time scince I have looked forward to the holidays, so I will be making the best of it this year.

Christmas for me this year means just getting through it - first christmas as a solo parent of 3 preschoolers and not much money so Im going to be doing the best I can .
Christmas hasnt ever really been a big deal for quite a few years so I think I'll just join the weary few who wish they could sleep through the 25th........

But Merry Christmas to the rest of you though (and I mean that sincerely)

It sounds really trite, but I -love- to give presents.

That's the best thing about Yule for me. I get to find stuff for everyone and give it to 'em.

I like getting stuff too, but I find that I generally get more pleasure out of the way people react to the thing I've put a bunch of thought into. 'cause I'm silly and do :)

It's never been about me.

For me it's about the giving. I love finding just the right thing for everyone on my list. And if I had more money, my list would be enormous. I love the look on their faces or the sound in their voices.

The presents? Some gifts can't be bought.

I make gifts for my residents at Christmas. Usually ornaments or something of that nature given with a Christmas card. It always makes them smile and every now and then shed a tear. I wouldn't trade the feeling I get doing that for anything in the world.

The meaning? Well, I'm agnostic.

So for me it is a time when I can show those I care about just how special I think they are. And how much I appreciate them being in my life.

This year I am going back to California for Christmas to be with family and friends.

i too love to give presents, i love buying them and knowing the receiver will get joy or use from it, but generally more thought than money goes into them.

well Christmas
is not a Holiday
I celebrate nor
Chanukah or
even Winters
solstice but I do
love to go out
the day after
Thanksgiving
and watch the
holiday crazed
people in the
malls bringing My
lunch with Me
and taking My
favorite people
watching bench
and just watch
the people as I
hand out My yearly
remind the people
of those without
letters with 2 dollar
bills stapled to them.
On the 8th I light a
candle in respect of
the Maccabbees and
a candle on the 21
in respect of the Winter
Solstice and a candle
on the 25 in respect
of Christmas and the
next day December26th
I start celebrating till
January1st. NguzoSaba.
I like getting and giving
presents ALL the time
and surprise people
I meet online all the
time with gifts in their
emails when Im in
the giving mood.
Usually I give what
I like getting, Lady
Godiva Chocolates
or Bed and Bath
products or something
from Extream Toys if
they are really deserving.
Ill be going Home for the
holiday so I will not be online
because Electirc is still not
a item thats been brought
to My side of the Island yet
From the hurricanes. But Our
celebrations are happy all the same.
