Greetings Masters, Mistresses and slaves...

I typically don't venture far from the Gorean forum, but something I saw today made me come here for hopefully...answers.

A&E Network, showed a program on Plural Marriages, or Polygamists. I was seeking information that could perhaps be found on the net, showing the positive aspects of living within such a community, rather then the hostile, negativity portrayed by the media.

I did some searching on Google, however could only find stories of child molestation, abuse and headliners revolving around pedophiles, who just happened to be family leaders. Is there a site, where one could locate more information pertaining to these communities on a more positive spin?

Wishing all a splendid day, grateful for the allowed voice...

Perhaps these will help:

http://www.lovemore.com/home

http://www.polyamory.org/

http://www.polyamorysociety.org/

http://www.bee.net/cardigan/PAARC/

http://www.uupa.org/

http://www.unmarried.org/polyamory.html

This is a good start. I've been doing pastoral counseling in the Poly community for almost 15 years, so if you need more information, I'll be happy to help where I can.

why not talk to those of Us who live a Poly life in a Poly Home lisaSea ? We are right here first hand and can tell you that not all Poly Homes are run by pedi's and evil ( that is unless you look at Poly as one of the evils as many do in society. ) What information do you seek ?

I have a very successfull Gorean Dominant run Home that is by all standards Poly.
There are others here who live in Poly and you will find on the Gorean side that most
of the Masters who are Gorean and real life, and who have Homes run them successfully
as a Poly One. Not to many Goreans who would live in a mono lifestyle as that is not
the Gorean way really but a few.
And as always the Ladies of Bladewing have provided good starts for generalized info.

Greetings Mistresses,

Thank you for your info....and forgive me if this comes across as wrong..but I was under the impression Polyamory and Polygamy were two different things? What I was seeking, are those that are practicing Polygamists. From all I have read so far, (and that isn't much), Most are tied in with some form of religion and view Plural Wifes as living according to what is preached in the bible, they don't seem to think kindly of Polyamory, as that is considered sex out of wedlock.

Im still trying to figure this all out and hoped that someone here may have heard of the various communities, or even a place where one could go to read. So far, all I can find are news articles that paint things in a pretty bleak and somewhat shocking picture.

Thank you for the information, I am most grateful *smiles*

Polygamy is a -branch- of polyamory.. specifically, it is a man, who is married/mated to more than one woman. You'll find positive, functional references to these kinds of relationships on many of the sites I listed for you, as well as among some of the long-term households here on CollarChat. I'm betting there are even some on the Gorean boards.

I can't speak to polygamy specifically, as our household was a 4-way, fully integrated mating, which grew into a larger group mating. However, the fundamentals are all pretty much the same. I -can- tell you that the news preys on the ugly and the horrible. For some reason, people don't believe the good and the healthy -- they seem to -crave- hearing about the vile and the miserable. Truth is, there are likely a much larger proportion of healthy, strong polygamous relationships out there than there are bad ones. (Oh, you may also want to look at other cultures where polygamy is relatively more frequently seen.)

There is a new HBO series that deals with polygamy called "Big Love". It starts March 12.
