(swiped this from another board I am on....thought provoking?)

Would you still consider yourself a D-type or an s-type
if the great toy god struck lightening upon your toy
bag and all your tools of trade dissappeared ?

Would you still be dominant or submissive if you could no longer play?
Do you need toys to play? Is the lifestyle only about the physical aspects?
Is there a mental side of the lifestyle?

Absolutely, I am and always will be an "s-type" (I kinda like that btw), long before I knew toys existed and still would be long after they are all gone. The "toys" and "how they are used" are just the frosting on the cake.

If all the toys disappeared, I would either buy new ones or make them. Either way I adapt and overcome.

Toys? I don't need no stinking toys... LOL!

Besides the best thing in my arsenal is between my ears & my own two hands.

Dominance & submission is not defined by BDSM interaction, the toys that are used, or how many you own.

I just can't get over how many people confuse topping & bottoming with actual dominance & submission.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind I'd remain a Domme. M

Heh

I don't need my toys to play.

I still have my hands, right? Is there a cutting board in the kitchen drawer? Icey Hott in the medicine cabinet? She still has hair to grab ahold of...g'head, take my toys O-merciless toy destroyer... I'll find a way to have fun.

Absolutely. I don't require ropes to be told "don't move". I don't need a gag to be told to be quiet. So the rest of the toys, fun as they are, are not necessary either. The lifestyle has a very strong psychological component (at least for U/us) and toys are not what makes a Dominant or submissive.

As many times as my batteries died....C'mon.....what is imagination for?

All I need is a string and a toothpick........Toys.....what are Toys....really?

A dull Dom's way to please....all I need is to be awake and have a willing participant.

Fastlane looks up...with claws in!

Dont forget some people have d/s without the bdsm. So toys would be fairly irrevalant. Having said that losing all the items that I use as toys, would leave my kitchen fairly depleted. No string in my house, no clothes pegs, no fingernails, no teeth (ewkky) etc :)
The floggers, canes, the traditional "toys' I would be upset but I have others

My ex was not much for toys.

He hated using anything other than his own body and his mind and while, sure, sometimes I missed the crop or the cuffs I learned that being told that dishes needed to be done before I could boot up the laptop put me as deep in subspace as ropes and paddles.

I think sometimes the toys actually cloud the issue of obedience and deference out of pure love and respect...It can be good to put them aside sometimes.

Toys or not, I still have my mind as well as my hands, body, and hopefully my belt.

I am and will always be a Dom. There has been a time or two when my bag of fun endeed up back at my place instead of my car when I went to unload. The damn Blue People are alwasy screwing me like that but we still had our fun without the toys. Besides, sometimes it's fun to scene without them. It builds creativity and allows you to come up with ideas for the just in case seneiro that the toys are missing.

a few weeks ago, after having used every implement in the toy bag on my body... Master asked me which my favorite was.

not exactly having a firm grasp on coherence, all i could do was take His hand, and kiss His palm.

yaknow... it was completely sincere, but ohhh, gotta love those extra subbie points.

anyway, being an s type happens for me no matter what the accessories. and when i asked my D-type what would happen if He came home and found all the toys hidden, he pointed out He would still have His hands, and i would still pay for whatever i was trying to avoid.

not saying i would.

I met with someone the other day, and the items I had ordered for use with him had not arrived. As an afterthought, on the way, I had him acquire a flyswatter and clothespins. So, I think you D is D, and I can function with or without toys. I stayed busy and happy for 2 hours without them, smiles.....

Edited to add: Almost forgot, I did bring a leather cord.....gotta tie up "the boys" somehow, lol.

I have some toys, but if I lost them, nothing would be lost. I would just dig deeper into that toybag that is called-- your mind.

I would miss the toys, sure. Not having toys might be a limitation for a little while, but it's amazing what one can think up without them. I'll bet I'd dig deeper into more cranial ideas for play than before.
