Here's a hypothetical situation: You are just entering your local adult store and you see your daughter's boyfriend/husband looking over the floggers and bondage gear. What would you do?

LOL.....i am soooooooooo glad I don't have daughters!!!!!
I guess that being the smart ass I am I would have to make a comment. I think it would probably be something like......"Don't let my daughter hurt you too badly with that thing"and then afterward I am sure that I would be having a long discussion with my daughter regarding safety and such.

Definitely - offer to help (her) pick something out.

Recently my son asked me about bondage. Before I realized what I was doing I had a rope harness halfway on his fully clothed fiance.

I think I overstressed safety, though, because he opted to borrow my leather cuffs instead.

Definately talk to her about it and give her some tips. I'd sure hope I knew my daughter well enough to begin with that I would'nt find out in an adult store. We would have already had the discussion.
Take them to some munches and parties.

Since I could only pick one, I said offer to help. Calling my daughter would happen as well. Although, I think in all honesty, it would be my daughter doing the shopping.

Although it is not something she wishes to discuss with her "mother", she knows I'm pretty open minded.

My son told me about his girlfriend liking as he put it 'kinky stuff' and I then took the opportunity to talk with him about safety and educating himself about BDSM. Funny thing... he hasn't asked or talked about it since but I'd be open to it if he did.

I don't have any offspring and consider the odds of sprouting any unlikely under current circumstances, due to my wife's persistant phobia about nine month long parasitic infestations. However, I do have a niece who is very attractive and starting to attract that sort of attention, so I can more or less relate.

Unless the kid was someone I considered to be a wet-behind-the-ears cub, and I saw them picking up a $120 bullwhip, I'd bring up the subject with them (if I knew them well enough to casually engage them in conversation) or else I'd bring up the subject with the hypothetical young lady at some later point. If on the other hand the whelp was reaching for something dangerous (like the aforementioned singletail), I'd point them to a safer toy and some good reading material to start out with and growl some dire warning about harming any of my kin.

Depending on the circumstances (and considering the pseudopodic* contents of the local marital aid stores around here) I'd probably just laugh quietly to myself and silently wish him lots of luck with that akward negotiation.
