Hello Everyone,
As you know I have a thread in here as I've been considering urethra penetration. I finally had an opportunity to talk to real doctor about this at a society meeting last night. He and I discussed the pros and cons of this in depth.
As there's not much information on the web or through people about this type of play available I thought I'd share it with you as I trust the source knows his stuff.
He said if you do want to incorporate urethra penetration of any kind into your kink bag you need to be very careful and gentle.
He said the penetration causes things called strictures (Scar Tissue) to form in the tract. He said the strictures could affect your urine flow and leave you more susceptible to urinary tract infections.
He said it's very common for someone who's been catheterized repeatedly to reach the point there's so much scarring they'll need to be catheterized to pee once they are older or they'll get constant infections as the urine will not flow freely from the obstructing scar tissues getting in the way.

He said if you must do this sort of play that you should use paper stick Q-Tips (Name brand he said is more trusted than generic as the cotton has less of a chance of falling off inside you) like the ones you clean your ears with.
He said you should clean your pussy or the head of your cock with betadine, dip the Q-Tip in Surgi-Lube (Available in medical supply stores) and be very gentle on insertion.
He said while KY Jelly is sterile the Surgi Lube is better in this part of your body.
He said to be safe you should not have anything penetrate your urethra more than 3-4 times a year or the frequent irritation alone can also cause the strictures to form if you do this too often.
He also seriously advised on inserting anything bigger than a Q-tip as the stretching also can do damage to the inside of your tract and cause infection susceptibility issues.
As I'd said before I personally only have this advice as hearsay for you, but I figure any info that might protect us when we play that I can share is better than not sharing at all.

Just a note from a nurse...while Urethra play is fun becareful...anything on the inside is considered starile...so try to always starialize your toys before hand....

An actual *doctor* said this?

Why not use something that was designed for urethral play, like urethral sounds, for gods sake?

At least they can be sterilized, won't be leaving pieces of themselves inside you and are actually MEANT for urethral insertion.

Sorry the guy doesn't sound like he really has any idea of how to do urethral play - doctor or not. At least not IMO.

Being an MD doesn't necessarily make them wiser, BTW. Most docs don't do their own cath'ing, nurses tend to do it. And just like how a phlebotomist can draw blood smoothly and yet doctors can make you shriek in agony, those who do it the most tend to know a little more about it.

I've heard some MDs suggest some really wacky stuff and all I could do was sit there and wonder if they honestly practice that way and how I will never willingly put myself in their care.

And beware too of those who call themselves doctor way too freely. If you stuck a qtip into your urethra and cotton stayed in and was either pushed into your bladder or was the cause of an infection that lands you in a hospital, he is setting himself to be sued. Most docs know that and don't throw out medical advice willy nilly. That and I've met a few *coff* self claimed doctors that had NO medical experience or training besides what they saw on tv and read on the internet and what they created in their heads.

Urethral play has risks, is common and there is a wealth of information avialable out there. Do't go off one guys words, or even mine, do your homework, and educate yourself on this - it really is the best and safest way, IMO.

Rice, qtips, pencils, screwdrivers, bbs, uncooked noodles, antennias, etc etc really should never be placed in the urethra, if you decide to do it, it's a lot more risky than if you just went with sounds.

Also realize that you CAN puncture the bladder or the urethral lining, which can cause furher problems that may have long term health consequences.

Just my two cents.

Hello There,
He said the Q-Tip brand paper stick swabs hold the cotton on the end better than the plastic ones. He also said trying to dislodge the whole piece of cotton would be hard if it did come off the stick.

I watched a demonstration on both sounding and catheterization just the other day and it is all fresh in my mind. There was an OR nurse present, commenting occasionally on what the presenter was saying.

Careful use of sounds and catheters should NOT result in injury, tears or otherwise. Society meeting? As in some sort of Munch or D/s get-together? I mean absolutely no offense or disrespect but I think you might have wanted to ask to see this doctor's credentials. Also, is he a licensed urologist?

Sounding does have to be done carefully. You CAN tear things inside. Chrome plated sounds can chip and that may cause tearing. Solid chrome sounds are less likely to do any sort of damage, unless the person doing the sounding is over-eager.

Always begin with the smallest sound and work your way up until you've found your partner's size. Do not go crazy and reach for the largest one from the get-go. You can stretch the urethra slowly and safely to accommodate larger sizes. Think of those who use slightly larger rings in their ears to stretch their lobes and you have a clear picture of what that entails. Stretching the urethra does not mean you won’t be able to hold your pee – that’s your bladder’s function.

The reason someone (most likely female) would get a UTI from being sounded is that they were sounded with unclean sounds – not sprayed down with matricide and wiped clean prior to being inserted. UTIs are caused by bacterial infections. If the sounds were not properly cleaned there is a risk of infection.

Females are more likely to get a UTI because their urethras (one to four inches) are much shorter than a male’s urethra (six to ten inches) – and bacteria has a shorter way to go before reaching the bladder.

As I said before there shouldn’t be scarring. There shouldn’t be tearing. If there is the person doing the sounding has very unsteady hands or is really jabbing the other person with the sound – both of which are large no-nos when it comes to sounding and/or catheterization.

For a sterile procedure you’ll clean everything you use to sound or catheterize someone. For a clean procedure you’ll clean your sounds and your packets of lube.

You don’t use Q-tips to clean the person’s body. That’s ridiculous. You would use a medical towelette. One of those moist things the OB/GYN gives you before you pee in the cup.

People are allergic to many, many things. Always test for allergies when applying medical fluids (such as iodine and Surgi-Lube) to the body. Also remember that alcohol does not disinfect or sterilize. It merely removes a layer of grime, oil and salts from the skin.

What sort of a doctor would tell you to insert a Q-tip into anything but your ears? I’m sorry to be the rain on this parade, but that sounds like more hooey.

What are you sterilizing the body for? The person being sounded isn’t going to contaminate themselves. Use a sterile lube (NOTHING petroleum based) on the sound and you’re pretty much ready to go.

And for extra, sadistic fun you can use Tiger Balm as a lubricant. You can use peppermint extract. These things absorb into the body. And though they may feel tingly or painful they are not going to do permanent harm. The effects will fade. Make sure you are using a new container of whatever lube you choose – and for additional safety spray the outside with matricide, let stand for twenty minutes and then wipe clean.

The more I read about what this “doctor” said the more skeptical I become. I heard exactly the opposite from two very well informed, safe playing people – one of which is a registered nurse and the other has a PhD. I think I will trust my sources.

I agree Q-tips may not be your first choice. I'd ask him other than sounds what could be used as I'd seen a girl who takes a full sized dildo in her urethra.
I honestly don't know about the Doctors credentials as He's part of my BR group and I didn't want to seem rude.

Ypu all raise good points and questions here & I appreciate all the feedback.
As far as researching it on the web, I've tried without much success. I also tried asking advice in here in another thread. It seems female pee hole insertions are not that common.
What had prompted the whole thing is I'd seen the girl who'd taken the dildo. I though WOW, that looks hot.
I've still not tried it as it's on my things to try list, but Master has not chosen to work it into our play yet.

I have experimented with this using both flexible and inflexible objects. And yes, I got an infection once.

The info I had when I tried it was that, if done properly, it did not have to hurt (causing pain like this was not part of the plan). It didn't when I was careful but, sadly, it was not all that great either. I had expected it to stimulate my g-spot. Maybe mine is in the wrong place but that never happened.

i agree totally with ShadeDiva. Using Qtips of any sort is absolutely insane. Sounds are made for such things and as She said easily sterilized. The cotton in a Qtip can very easily harbor nasty agents -- just a touch on the cotton from your finger would do the deed!

Hello All,
About one hour from now I'm going to visit an experienced nurse Dom friend to finally get to experience urethra penetration first hand. He's planning on catherizing me with several different sized cath tubes.

I can't believe it's finally going to happen. I'm thrilled and scared all at the same time.
