Hi everyone. Clowns have been on my squick list for as long as I can remember. I've also found around the scene that this is not uncommon, particularly for those who identify as either submissive or switch.

Clowns came up in another thread so I thought I'd make this handy dandy little poll:

How do you feel about Clowns?

Can you define clowns please--do you mean like a circus clown? a professional clown that does birthday parties, etc? or an idiot class clown type person? or is there some other type in the lifestyle that i'm not familiar with?

My favorite are rodeo clowns.

Proud hon, I hate them all. I hate marionettes too. And Mimes. And people in 'Character" suits at Theme Parks. So, they all fall under the general 'clown' catagory.

However, I can deal with the poor bastard dressed like a taco on the street handing out leaflets. They are clownesque, but not quite clowns. And yes, I'm not talking about the 'class clown' or funny friends. I guess I define clowns as having a relationship with grease paint in some way.

God, writing about this is making me feel light headed....

God I know exactly how you feel. I hate all those people too, Bozo and that person that does the dancing for Six Flags too. I absolutely HATE clowns.

I can appreceiate the artistry of Shields and Yarnell, but I spent every night for almost a year in my grandparent's bedroom where there was a HUGE picture of that hobo clown from the 50's, and I learned to have nightmares about him.

Thank you for elaborating Lily. I voted that i don't care either way. They don't offend me but also not my favorite thing. I still love rodeo clowns though--their combination of wit, athleticism and bull fighting is a real talent.

Thanks .... oh & the handbasket you ask about, I wove them in "the home", they let me out to go to munches & play parties because then I don't beat the orderlies with my cane.

Clowns have always given me a bad case of the heebie jeebies. Can't really explain why, they just do. Creep me right out.

clowns scare me! And after reading this thread and sneaking back on a few occassions to look at Lady Shoshin's clown pic, i think i may have worked out why using the process of elimination

Its the big red lipstick mouth. Now dont get wrong there is no sinister grandmother with bright red lipstick in my past..*giggle* but she is pretty evil!!!

i can deal with the flippy floppy shoes and hats (as long as the hat doesnt hide the eyes!). i can deal with the clothes, the pom poms and even the squirty flower. i can deal with their funny wigs...just
BUT
I look at the clown mouth and when not smiling, it is a bit scary, but when they smile...it chills me to the bone ~shudders~ .As for the explanation as to why...i couldnt tell you, because i dont know

I voted i don't care either way. I like clowns, except the ones in It and House of 1,000 Corpses. Those clowns give me the heebie-jeebies. But, i don't hold that against all clowns, if somebody wants to make me an animal out of balloons, they're automatically on my good list.
