I am curious to know how your submission began with your Dom/Domme....Was it an immediate gift of surrender or was it a slow giving of yourself as you learned and grew in a D/s relationship?

I can only speak for myself, but I think most subs in here will agree that they exhibited signs of submissiveness throughout their entire lives - whether they knew it or not. As a kid, I was always the one that got 'caught' and tied up or 'put in jail' when playing with my friends. In school, I always seemed to put myself in positions where I would get in trouble and received spankings (I'm dating myself here). As I grew older, I found it extremely satisfying to open doors, carry bags, etc, etc for older or more Dominant women. The kink side of the D/s life is simply the icing on the cake.

I think I'm reading this question different than Ron. The way I see it reading it asks if we submitted immediately to our current dominant or was it a slow and steady progression?

With Doug, I knew he would be my Dom before we first met in person. I don't know how I knew that. It was just a feeling I had. Didn't have it with the hundreds of other's I had met who I was considering.
So, from day one it was full blown submission, hard and heavy.

When we were first married 36 years ago i wanted to do everything for Him, and treat Him like a king. I just didn't have a name for it until a few years ago. So i guess you could say i submitted the day we were married.

The funny thing was all my life i believed i was a dominant personality until i met a true Domme. During our first intimate encounter i tried to take charge and was bitten slapped e.t.c. She had her way with me in a way i've never experienced before, i was able to finally give control to another. So anyway it was very qiuck for me but different as well. p.s. She was a trained Mistress.

For myself, I'd say it was a combination of the two. I immediately felt submissive to him, but relinquishing control was a process, as my love for and trust in him grew. So... although I *felt* submissive feelings immediately, actually surrendering my control was most definitely something that happened (and to a degree continues to happen) over time.

I experience it similar to what daisy has said here, except interject Her instead of him.
I have started R/T relationships over the net, so it is more of a slow process for me to submit in totallity, but I always felt a sense of submission right away because it is my nature to do so, with a Dominant woman.
