around the switch section, so I thought I'd ask a question...just for fun. I'm a submissively/masochistically oriented switch who is exploring my dominant side with my partner. Getting into the sadism isn't so much a challenge as getting into the dominance. So, for others who might be in a similar boat: how do YOU get your dominant groove on?

I tend to be much more in the dominant position and I like it that way. I don't really have a problem getting that type of "groove on" as you calll it, but sometimes if I do it relies on his attitude. Is he in the mindframe to serve or is he in a more dominant mood? If Im kind of sitting on the fence a lot of time his mood will determine things for us.

Well, being Dom is always more work ;)

I take the time to sit and reflect just what I want to do with a sub, take into consideration her needs, and I DO try to get in touch with MY needs (after all, it is supposed to be about me) ;)

Then, when the times comes, a pair of combat boots always seems to be a good trigger ;)

i've always trusted in good ol' biology to get me dommy, we are, afterall, animals. there's a reason collars make us feel owned, at the moment i can't think of anything really helpful, just try postures, language, and cercumstances that make you feel more in control. the rest will follow.

I personally have to be in a dominant mood to begin with. If the mood is not upon me, there is little i can do do bring it on. Someone recently told me i should change my name to peppermint twist.....however the twist times are few and far between.

I suppose the same way I get my "sub groove" on. I decide to.

I have always preferred conscious decisions for my actions and emotions.

But then, I prefer to be ruled by my mind instead of my hormones.

I do not know if this helps, but just my two cents.

People I submit to are not people I can Dominate, but when I do see someone who makes me feel my shoulders draw back and my chin raise and my hand finds itself slapping my thigh, I'm usually already in that state.

Dominance is a state of mind for me. I am very dominant in the vanilla world. I just think about how I want to excercise control over the sub for her to please me...whether it be how she addresses me, what she is permitted to wear or not.;) I am mainly a sadist when I top so I engage in lots of pain play.

For me it has been the opposite. Getting myself into a submissive mood. It is frigging near impossible, and when it happens, it happens randomly. Which makes it hard when you are feeling masochistic, trust me on that, cause the rest of your body and mind are screaming No!

It is also a pain when both sides flare up. *rolls eyes* Yay, internal warfare........

Although I have found that once a whip is run over me, dommy or not, I seem to instantly shut up and melt into the wall.

But dommy. That is a bit different. Seems to come to me naturally. If unanticipated or not.

Talmar: It's funny because I am very dominant in my public life. (I'm an arrogant prick at a "Little Ivy", so I spend a good deal of my time getting my intellectual rocks off by topping my peers in the classroom. Gender theory and Continental philosophy get me hott.) It's just harder during play. I can be quite sadistic, but never quite dominant enough. I mean, I'm a good actress, but I want to OWN it. Ja know?
