SAN FRANCISCO - A 20-year-old California Institute of Technology student set a new world's record Saturday for solving the popular Rubik's Cube puzzle, turning the tiled brain-twister from scrambled to solved in 11.13 seconds

Here is the Story~

And I thought I was fast. My fastest time was 15.7 years give or take a month. There are lots of useless things in the world to know how to do... this may be one of them.

There's a mathematical equation that most of the speedy people use to solve it from what I've heard.

There is an equation. When I was in grade school I use to have the formula memorized and could solve it in a couple of minutes. Problem was, though, it took any fun out of it.

Hi. I don't care. Thanks.

If someone has to tell you how smart (or great) they are, chances are they are not.

My solution usually involved peeling off the stickers/pulling off the blocks, then reassembling. I am curious about the equation for solving, probably because I am a math geek...

I could solve it. Even solved the triangle(offshoot of the cube) but I never had a formula other than taking a line at a time. Hardly mathematical.
Also, I was certainly not speedy about solving it.

Same here, I solved it, but never used any kind of equation to do so. Seems to me it takes the all the fun out of it

im sure someone quite young wrote a book on how to solve it...thought he might sell a few copies and ended up selling a truckload and doing quite well for himself
