i was wondering if any submissive males or females have ever had a problem with their skin reacting to the leather and/or metal that makes up their collar. This would only occur if worn a large part of each day or more. i wore a collar about a year ago that was made of leather and nickel plated steel and after a couple weeks, started developing a rash where the rivets and buckle were exposed.

To solve this problem, i offered to make a collar for my former Mistress to use on me. After looking high and low for stainless steel rivets (buckles were not hard to find), i ended up making a nylon webbing collar with a stainless buckle, but couldn't avoid the nickel plated rivets, which continued to be a problem but not as bad. If anyone knows of a source for stainless steel rivets, i would greatly appreciate a link. Thanks!

i have metal allergies. What i find works for me is applying several coats of clear fingernail polish to the metal parts that touch my skin. Maybe this will work for you too.

I just googled for "stainless steel rivets" and got a boatload of sites returned. Have you tried that yet?

Thank You for Your efforts. i did find several suppliers online and even talked to a couple but it seems they only sell them in gross quantities...like in the 1000's or more. i'm stunned You did a search but if You ran across anything that looked like they sold in small amounts and could send me a link i would be most grateful.

In the meantime, the fingernail polish idea seems feasible.

For stainless steel rivets try a leather supply store. We buy ours (for armor making) at Tandy Leather. I suspect the actual stores will sell in smaller quantities than the online supliers.

And I was blessed with nonreactive skin. I can pretty much wear anything. The leather collar I wear sometimes tends to rub black stuff off on my neck, but that's about it.

A nickel rash can be quite serious given that some people are highly sensitive to the metal. I would imagine that others might be sensitive to the chemicals used to tan leather. As for a source of stainless steel rivets in affordable quantities, try to find a distributor of surplus hardware near you. Aircraft surplus is best since they use lot's of stainless steel. Prices can be really low with no minimums. Also, just walking up and down the aisles can give you lots of ideas for future projects. Good luck.
