There seems to be so many threads lately about what doesn't work, how not to contact someone, how rude someone is and how poorly written someone's profile may be. I started to think of all of the messages that I've received and yes a lot have fallen into the above mentioned categories. But there have been just as many, while not a match for me, have been respectful, humorous and just down right entertaining. I've talked to chefs and vikings (not the football player, but the kind with sword and horned helmet)and countless others who have proven to be quite nice and a blast to talk to. It's just a good time of year to be positive, relax and have a little fun here. It's these positive exchanges here in the message boards and over on the other side that keep me coming back for more.

Aileen, I agree with you and only attempt to make others smile and maybe think a little. I'm not sure what went wrong with my other OP, but I am sorry. I noticed you made your points with humor there, too. Nice idea here. I'm going to try to keep things positive always.

Aileen,
Thank you for creating a post like this. I couldnt agree more. I have had some WONDERFUL emails from those who would like Me to consider them, and although My profile clearly states that I am looking for someone in My area, I still get emails asking for consideration outside of My state. I have had My share of being called names, ect. and I have been hurt here. But the point is I try not to bring it over here and complain about it, it is just one of those things that happen here on CM. I also try not to get involved with threads that there is so much fighting on, that I cant make head nor tails over what is going on. It is very nice to see that I am not the only one.

Wishing you and yours a very happy holiday season :)

Now this I agree with also. A lot of other threads are as you described. I contributed to a couple of them, even got in trouble in a few

But thru it all, I too have gotten some great e-mails. And I chat with a few subs and Doms on regular basis now, thru e-mails. Some great laughs, and friendships are being developed on here. And who knows, what else may happen.

Keeping it positive and clear thinking, and fun!

Happy Holidays to you A/all

Jessica

The same here. With the exception of one email in which the sender blocked me because I refused to give him my phone number, I have had nothing but absolutly wonderful correspondance with others from here.

I've received some unfortunate messages, insulting, derogatory, and silly cyber game playing. But I've also received nice messages. I figure no matter where you park in life, there are going to be some people slamming their car doors against yours.

When I've started threads on the message board, they've been well received and those that were important to me -- where I was trying to learn about myself and being serious about it, those received well thought out, honest responses, and it doesn't get much better than that.

I have corresponded with maybe 30-40 people on this site, from a quick email exchange with most to in-depth discussions over weeks with a few. While some may have been a little mundane, I have not encountered anyone rude or even overly pushy. Not one.

Hmm, I must be doing it wrong.

I'm all for being positive and I much prefer posting as a means of sharing my opinions, beliefs and experiences within the lifestyle....

But the fact is, I also enjoy an occasional stoush, too! That's not to say I go looking for trouble but I'm sure as hell not here for the amusement of others, either! And as Ted Danzon's alter-ego, Dr John Becker, said (approx): "How are the jerks gonna know they're jerks if someone (him) doesn't point it out to 'em!?!" lol

Thing is, I find pleasure and pain to be a natural balance in all things - they compliment each other! I prefer offering my version of positive advice or something humourous etc but I'm also not one to just sit in slience when I read something offensive on the Boards, either! The recent "chicken doms" thread comes to mind, here....

If you want people to behave "normally", you've gotta expect all manner of emotions and responses on occasions as a consequence....

I see personal email as being different. I don't write "hate mail" and I don't appreciate it. I mostly respect differing opinions to mine on public boards but I have no reason to be understanding or respectful of someone continueing their opposition through personal contact. *That thread* comes to mind again.... lol

Focus.

We to have found many friends from around the world from here with just a small message of thanks for a comment they have made to us in either saying they liked our profile or something we had put on a thread.
Since we started posting only once have we been criticized but like water off a ducks back.

I think the fact that this or any other message board has an innate tendency to revert to the negative is merely a deeper vision into the human condition. It is always easier to point out the problem than to solve it.

Also important to remember that a majority of posts are seeking answers or seeking opinions. Most people do not seek out advice or consoling when things are going well for them last I checked.

I think it's ALWAYS a good time of the year to enjoy positive exchanges.

The advice, comfort and support that I see offered, to and from, complete strangers, can warm my heart sometimes.

Thanks Aileen,
I too have had numerous contacts who are witty, charming and downright fun. We all tend to complain when things aren't right but most of us forget to just say "Thank you" to everyone here that has made this site a fun place to visit.

I can't say enough great things about collarme. If i remotely have a problem with a email , i respond to them directly. The boards are Great!!! I am active in the scene , and personally know many right here on the site as well. I think there is good and bad in every place you go , so just deal and move on.
