Status: offline 		We have lately had many spirited discussions about submissives versus slaves---slaves being presented as someone with no will or someone who gives up will completely ( I guess)--My question is in the context of online or an LDR--how does a slave relationship exist? The slave is obviously living on their own, how are decisions made? How does it work?

Actually I suppose it could work, with the slave being delegated a certain amount of responisbility in certain fields (much as I would imagine would be the case where the slave had a job, I mean if my slave were pretty much anything but a computer jockey, then I would be unqualified to make most job related decisions for her or him, so would have to allow the slave some autonomy in that sphere.)
It is also possible, in this day of IM, email, and cell phones to keep in pretty close and continuous contact, so perhaps the slave consults regularly.
Just a few ideas...

I know that there are people who do this, or think that they do, with a lot of communication and devotion. But my view is that it is simply impossible.

Assuming that we do have some kind of real slavery within our BDSM community, that means the slave is owned and has no rights, no independence. How can this occur where slave and owner may be far apart?

I bet we need a new word for this kind of relationship.

Well, once you meet and engage a real person, its best to just throw all the jargon out the window and be yourselves while setting your own native terms, rules, and protocols. The emphasis should be on how you fit together and what you want to do for each other.

For some, I guess it's all they got.... for now.... or will ever have. The question is. Who is it really real to? Oh sure, you can cam with each other. A Dom can order the submissive to do certain things and sit back and watch. (isn't that the same as cyber sex?)

I think you were very very submissive to her will, but you still had quite a lot of choice. you could suddenly stop answering the phone, or one day in the 7-11 buy an unauthorized Slurpee. In the end, though, it matters most what She and you thought.

It doesn't. They don't. The two people can play at it and do some things but as you mentioned there is nobody there but the slave to make the decisions and handle the daily necessities. For them it has to be a game or a way of getting to know what the other person might want before they actually get together and form a r/t relationship.

Status: offline 		LDR works... or at least as well as it can... in my case. I understand OscarHargraves' point that the slave is forced to live independantly, so maybe LDR is better for a sub than a slave. I am a sub, I do have a little freedom, BDSM makes me relish that freedom because it is so precious and rare. Im in a LDR right now, and am by no means unhappy. I can always feel Sir with me, guiding me and watching over me when Im alone. Its a very comforting thought.

it CAN work...it's difficult....but is possible.
