What type of needles you planning on useing

(I would highly recommend avoiding any areas near major veins or arteries)

Personally, i love needle play...and for me, i started slowly...at a BDSM group meeting, actually...next time was when i got my nips pierced, with someone i cared about who fell between Domme and nilla...it's almost impossible to answer this question for you...i'd just say, start slow...and go with it, or don't, if you don't think you like it...

i have great memories of the times i've been played with, with needles...just go into it as you likely would with any part of your sexuality...have fun, but be careful at first...and if you like it...expand yourself.

I recently attended a needleplay demo and I highly recommend it. I know it's not that uncommon a subject at events and you get the benefit of learning from experienced practitioners. There are numerous safety concerns, much too much for me to cover, that should be digested before trying at home, IMO.

I applaud you on seeking out further information. It is much how we approached the subject as well as both me as the dom in the relationship and her as the sub had our own unique questions before we could make any decision. If you have the ability I'd highly recommend getting to a demo hosted by any local or near by group. I took the liberty of checking out your profile and kinda familar with there area so I know it may not always be easy to find these groups. Another option if you have the means to do so is make it to a larger lifestyle conference as many have classes and demos on the subject.

Being lucky enough to live in a kinky mecca, San Francisco area, we have the annual Folsom Fringe event at the end of September but I am well aware it's not the only such event. Just the one I'm more familar with. Last year we took the beginers level class offered and opted to skip the advanced level class offered afterwards with plans we'd attend it at a later date. What we didn't realize going in was that they were gonna have a hands-on experience for those willing to participate. For us that helped a lot as the ones presenting took time to go around to each pair and help out. Learning from others with more experience and knowledge in the subject matter is never a bad idea.

Because of this class we actually removed needle play from both our hard limits list. It's not something we've done much of yet but speaking for myself I'm looking for other classes to gain insight from even more people.

As a medical professional I highly recommend you contact an experienced kink-friendly person who can show you the ropes of needle play. This can be tons of fun if done right! I also recommend you get yourself an anatomy book and a book on accupuncture. Above all safety and cleanliness is an issue, NEVER reuse needles. You can get these readily and affordably enough online or through a medical supply place so don't set yourself or anyone else up for infection please. Good luck and enjoy your exploration!

Where? Under the watchful eye of someone who knows what s/he is doing and has agreed to give you the benefit of his/her experience.

When? Whenever it's convenient for this gracious person, since s/he is doing you a favour.

How deep? Not too! (That's best answered by the kind person teaching you.)

How many? As many as it takes for you to get the hang of it, assuming your stunt victim can deal with it.

Oh, and don't forget to graciously thank the generous people who agree to teach you and play stunt victim for you.

Needle play requires some common sense and a willingness to stick with safety practices. ("Stick with", sorry, I couldn't help myself

). Contrary to what some folks will tell you, it's not something you need a medical degree to do, and it's no more dangerous than other bdsm practices. A lot of local or regional groups do have how-to demos. You can also get a lot of information online. I'd recommend:

Needles are great fun, but I would listen to those that have recommended learning from a r/t experienced needleplayer. There is a lot of good information online, but its still best to play on the safe side.

Some quick tips:
Remember that the higher the number for the needle size (guage) means a smaller needle. (ie a 22 guage needle is smaller than a 16 guage)

If you're looking for an inanimate object to prctice sticking, a (thawed) roasting chicken works okay. The skin is a bit loose, but the amount of effort it takes to puncture the skin is fairly close.

Get a sharps container and ensure that you are disposing of used needles properly.

Be safe, get educated and have fun.
