Sorry. I just had to share. lol He was so cute, but embarassed, reading it to the class, though he did volunteer! Quote in response from my sub: "I agreed completely regarding that swagger. lol It looks like your student nailed your persona."

Attencion, attencion!
acho, sneeze
and then the customary
"Bless You"
and my polite thank you, in return
the teacher has stopped talking
she forgot her immediate thought
but remembered something previous
that she will not share
possibly of goodness, greatness, yes!!!
or maybe of the opposite
quite probably a blah, & bluh
she simply just forgot
what she was saying
for a moment
a momentary sneeze
Oscar the grouch
does not match my teacher
she is much more bitter
on those days that
her discontent with the class
can be seen in her swagger,
crutches
help her so.

*edited because I got too cutesy with the colored font.

What? 40 views and nobody says anything?

Sheesh.

Well, *I* think it's pretty damn cool Miss Marie.

Thanks, pollux. Of course as an English teacher, I'm thrilled to death when 40 people take time out of their busy lives to read a poem anyway. :)

The poem was created as part of poetry workshop (given
by a friend of mine) exercise. First the students had
to write words elicited from particular stimuli.

Prior to writing the poem, he
saw a red paper; wrote: bright, no, stop, attention,
strange, brave, kool-aid, hot

smelled a spice; wrote: spice, gookness, greatness,
yes!!!, desert, warm, delicious, yum, bluh, & blah

heard Sesame Street song; wrote: happy, fun,
problem-free, innocent, pure, Oscar, the grouch, Bert
& Ernie

My poet friend was impressing on them that their lives are worthy of a poem, and this was the part of his life he wrote about. Go figure. lol

This is rather dear to me, Misstoyou......but a special thing none the less, I doubt you could find this book; anyone......

"Poetry of the Insane"

(A compilation of poetry by the insane in the Illinois State Hospital System by the Superintendant and given as a gift to those nurses who worked in the system in satisfaction of their residency (explaination mine.......... (c) 1933 Charles E. Mayos.....don't think it was published more than 10 years or so, privately)

WOMAN

(Yesterday)
Small feminine feet, gliding everywhere,
Modest, shy, not daring to stare,
Buggy riding here and there, no the square.

(Today)
Large feminine feet, flapping the street,
Rolled hose and short skirt, (for the love of Pete!)
Saucy, self sufficient and complete.

(Tomorrow)
High-powered mental babe--more advanced child,
Springing from life's swamp--yet undefiled,
Subdues all maternal urge, --actions more wild.

East Moline State Hospital,
East Moline, Illinois

(Note the keenness of the patient's observation, and the probable correctness of her gaze into the future.)

as written....

As you said.........waaaaaaaaaaaaayyy back...
LOLOLOL,
Ron

This is an interesting poem.
I cant believe the kid said this about you.
Your class obviously at times, drives you crazy.
The funniest part was the "crutches help her so".
Now THERE'S a line that's open to interpretration!
LOLOLOLOL
Very funny stuff.

Yes, gawd knows about the metaphorical, but my broken ankle hasn't been helping this Oscar, the grouch's disposition in the classroom these days. lol
