Back in the late 70's and early 80's in my formative years as a developing Dom I had virtually unlimited pornographic resources in the greatest city in the world - NYC. In the early days of Giuliani we were actually grateful for his work in cleaning up Times Square. It was great to be able to take clients and family to the 42nd Street area and not worry about being solicited to purchase any variety of drug or sex act. After all, we KNEW all the "good places" anyway. But is seems now that the good idea has gone too far. Today in the Daily News it's reported: quote:
An appeals court gave the city a green light yesterday to shut down strip clubs and other X-rated businesses operating outside adults-only zones. The ruling could force 100 flesh meccas out of residential and tourist neighborhoods, and into industrial areas such as the far West Side of Manhattan. Entire Article: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/299442p-256223c.html Don't think for a minute that this is solely to fight pornography. Read the article in it's entirety and your see that the decision is more about profit then porn. In 1975 you could have bought the entire 42nd street block between 7th and 8th Avenue for about $100,000.00. Just about every property was for sale for failure to pay taxes. Now, with Disney and the Disney Theater as it's centerpiece it's valued at $250 Million - MINIMUM. Quite a difference in taxes coming to the City.
