I ain't sayin' I'm gonna win, but we'll all git knotted up over it and make no mistake!

Okay, just an observation or two.

Conflict is natural. We are SUPPOSED to fight sometimes. Healthy conflict can often lead to greater understanding of ourselves and each other. Running from conflict doesn't solve much. Continueing conflict for the sake of 'winning' or 'being right' doesn't resolve it either, but with time, patience, and mutual respect ... it usually sorts itself out in good order.

That being said, It makes me wonder why negative fight threads get hundreds of posts and go on for pages. Good threads on positive topics often don't even go on for more than a page or two. There are a FEW really good 'discussion' threads that can go either way

I am proud that the random silliness of the "switches unite" thread on the switch board goes on and on with random positive fun (even if it is not substitive ;) )

Please people, if you SEE a good post, one that makes you smile, don't be afraid to jump into that thread as quickley as some who jump into a fight.

I love a good debate where all sides have valid points that are backed up.
And I love those happy, positive threads.
But people like train wrecks.
It's human nature, unfortunately, to lower ourselves and our standards based on pride.
It's a hard thing to admit in public that you've made a mistake or are sorry for words that have been said.
And as a result, people often fight like crazy to save face.
It just snowballs and gets nasty.

To be honest I'm proud of the way I debate. I have never ever lost control and told someone NO IM RIGHT YOUR WRONG.. I just see no need. I say I agree to disagree. I love getting all worked up about something you feel passionate about. Good post fergus :)

I thought this thread was going to let us attack each other. Damnit. OK... it isn't, but here is my take on things. Conflict is as natural as breathing. When you put so many diverse people in one area and allow them to speak their mind the result will be fighting sometimes.

Conflict is healthy and can actually be enlightening. You learn a lot about someone when you observe how they handle conflict.

Everyone loves a good fight... it is just human nature to want to look at it and espouse their points of view also. I am not sure why it is that we thrive on conflict but I do love debate because it makes me think about my position and it helps me decide if my point is valid or if their points are stronger. Fighting is one thing, conflict is another and debate is yet another thing. I prefer not to fight with someone because, most of the time, it degenerates into stupidity and name calling etc.

Just my two cents.
