do i still read their posts on the message board? or is that person really blocked (for me) (or you) in all aspects of CM? thanks

Hmm, not really sure what you are asking.

If they are blocked from email? Then they are blocked only from email.

If you block them on this side by hitting that little red hand...then only posts here on the forums will be blocked...and only from your viewing.

thats probly a support question but i am sure its only an email block. yes they are blocked from sending you email and if you come here to the forum and block them here to then their post wont show up. but then of course that means you will see them when others quote them, so as far as email is concerned yes as far as the forum is concerned the only real block is simply for you to exercize self control and skip over the posts

wow... strange that you responded RealOne... you are the one i had in mind when asking about the blocking. you have diarreaha of the fingers that i mostly find rude and obnoxious and merely a way to get attention... but thanks for the head's up anyway.

Here we are, a group fighting against censorship practicing self censorship. Words can not hurt you. Ignorance in a post or email - ignore it. The protagonist gets nothing out of being ignored. Their ongoing baiting and ranting establishes them and their opinions as inconsequential. I wouldn't doubt that there is even an ongoing game being played by some one-handed web surfers who score points by being banned or blocked.

Abuse and stalking should be reported. I'm confident that the moderators here will take care of the issue. Blocking is often a victory for the person you blocked. They "got to you"; or worse yet, they believe you can't handle their "truth". Is that the image you want to portray?

Just a thought.

I disagree with blocking period, unless someone is very obsessive with multiple, meaningless or totally OT posts. Never for a difference of opinion or disagreement.

Now if you're a staunch neo-conservative you will disagree with many of my points of view, but don't you want to know where your enemy is coming from ?

What's more if one were to block me, my opinions are still available to everyone else and won't suffer from any rebuttal if those who disagree have blocked me.

So in a way if you block someone you are sort of blocking yourself. (whaddya think of that for irony ? )

Which brings us to the next pertinent question, if I block someone in this thread, are they blocked from my view in all threads ? If that is the case, one who blocks could embarrass themself quite effectively by responding inappropriately, due to having missed part of a thread.

Anyone who thinks I'm an (_|_) is cordially invited to step up and say so. If you block me and I prove my point to everyone else, then you are the (_|_) in their eyes but you'll never know.

Yes they are blocked from you in all threads (thank goodness), until you decide to unblock them. You will still know they've posted, but you don't see what they saying.

How about for sheer, consistent stupidity?

I've only got about three people blocked. Not for disagreement but only because their posts are so consistently poorly written and thought out (or they asked me to block them) that the posts constitute a waste of time.

I don't tell others not to read them but my understanding of the right to speak doesn't include they have a right for me to listen.

very well said Mr. Warren. my understanding is the block only works until the person blocked is quoted by an unblocked person.

And if i choose to block someone, it is after all my choice.
