I'm a Domme (Natually dominant personality, fairly openminded, like to lead/play), new to lifestyle, but very definitely certain this is the only type of relationship in which I am interested for the future...
How important is fetish gear? I mean, I dress well, have some heels, but how much should I be looking to expand my wardrobe with black or leather pieces??

To me as a submissive, a tiny bit to not at all. Sure, I like it when my parnter dresses in a stereotypical "dominant" way, but I'm not reacting to his clothing. Rather, I've submitted to his person.

I think it depends a lot on what makes -you- comfortable. Do you want to dress in fetish clothing? If so, you can undboutably find parnters who want that. If you don't, you'll find parnters who don't care.

Frankly if I'm blindfolded then that "fetish wear" is for you, not me.

Some guys might be perfect but really need to see you wearing chainmaill. (Don't ask why, only Sigmund Freud knows why.

I know that for some submissives, the fetish wear is really important. It's not for me. As a matter of fact, it's kind of one of those strange things about me.

For me, the important thing in a bdsm relationship that I am involved in means that I am there to make my partner/dominant as comfortable and happy as possible. Often, this means she wears whatever makes her feel most comfortable. I've been in a few relationships where jeans and casual dress has been her "costume" on some days while she would turn around and turn into Ilsa the Nazi Dominatrix the next with her clothing. I was always happy that she was having as much enjoyment as I was. I guess part of it that kind of works with the fetish wear is that if I'm involved with a woman that likes to see me really turned on, well, it goes without saying that this is definitely going to accomplish it without any real extra work involved.

I thought I would share this one story with you, however. I was a live-in slave to a woman some years back, and she was highly known in the bdsm community as one who wore some of the hottest outfits (she was a professional and also attended a lot of parties with me in tow). For the longest time, there was a joke between us that I used to fantasize about her in her fuzzy bunny slippers. This got out, and somewhere down the line this huge fantasy demographic appeared to do sessions with her where way too many kept asking for the fuzzy bunner slipper fantasy. She would come back from these sessions after they were over and wail into me because yet another submissive took a joke from me and turned it into a fantasy.

You see, the fantasy of fuzzy bunny slippers was that it was the one time when she was relaxed and not forced into wearing fetish wear for all of her clients. It was the time that made me the happiest, seeing her comfortable and at rest. No one ever understood that. It wasn't about the fantasy of some fetish slippers; it was about wanting to see her happy and finally able to get off her feet into something comfortable.
