What's really sad is that excesses like MK Ultra do take place, but this sort of post lets those who politically benefit from that sort of activity yell, "See it's all nutcases."

Now if I were one of them I'd go around posting crazy theories on the internet that had the nuggets of truth buried in them just so I could dismiss everything as a paranoic's dream.

It is, quite frightningly effective. Just after WWI, the Brits were quite proud about the effectiveness of their campaign of lies (to distinguish it from propaganda which told about actual occurances) like mass murder by German troops and bayonetting of babies and several books were written on the subject. After Hitler invaded Poland, stories started surfacing about the concentration camps and the "final solution." Germans were able defuse much of the outrage by insisting "perfidious Albion" was up to its old tricks.

I've found that you can make a very effective hat to shield your brain waves from government surveillance using plane old aluminum foil. Just make sure the shiny side is facing out.
