Midear Lonesome- It's really, really hard to damage muscle tissue- even with a rigid implement like a paddle. The glutes are a nice big pad of muscle, well bound to the bones- about as ideal a place to whack at as anywhere on the body. The most common effect of percussive work is a stimulation of bloodflow, which might, in fact, speed the healing and growth of surrounding tissue. Stay Warm, Lawrence
