I think that it would be fun to have a collarme weekend get-away to either Cedar Point or Geauga Lake (not as much fun as Vegas was I'm sure, but I think it may still be a good time). How many people would be interested in something like that? I would be willing to plan everything that figure out all the financial and business parts of it if there is an interest.
I would love to get a bunch of people together and we can get discount tickets, discounts on lodging (they have hotels and camping at both locations) and we could even get t-shirts made if we wanted!
Is there other interest in this or am I the only one?

Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, just off Lake Erie. Geauga Lake is located just East of Cleveland in Aurora.

As far as what I have in mind, well, there are lots of rollar coasters, shows, a water park and pool, rides and games. I just think it would be fun to get to meet people.

I suppose you are talking about some time this summer? I would attend.

Was born on lake Erie - in Erie Pa.

Cedar Point definitely! I love that place, and it's not too far.

I was really surprised when I saw the headline of this thread :)

I grew up in NE Ohio, and I've been to the big name amusement parks in other areas of the country, but IMO, none of them beats Cedar Point! The Millenium Force 2000 (300 ft. first drop, literally straight down...second drop, 200 ft.!) was the most incredible, awesome, freaking thrilling roller coaster I've ever ridden....while waiting in line, I watched the riders just sit, stunned when the ride finally stopped, and then break out into applause and loud boo-yah'ing cheers! The first time I ever rode The Magnum (first drop 200 ft.) I was truly frightened for the first time in my coaster-riding life.

Sandusky is at the far west end of Lake Erie, (heading towards Toledo) and there are some other fun, but more low-key attractions in that area, like wineries, and ferry rides out to Put-in-Bay, and I think there's a "Kelly's Island" out there, too.

The former Geauga Lake Park has been taken over by the Six Flags corporation, and I think they also took over the former Sea World (another home of Shamu!) that is nearby for their water park. It's roughly 25 or 30 miles directly south of Cleveland.

You couldn't go wrong at either place, but I grew up going to Cedar Point when the Blue Streak, a 100+ year old wooden coaster was the main attraction. It will always be one of my old stomping grounds!

Another one here. Used to live in Aurora (about 5 minutes from Geauga Lake), then moved to the west suburbs.

I remember the Blue Streak fondly. That old rickety thing...they have to have torn it down by now. It would rattle the teeth out of your head, but what a blast.

I think the best coaster I've been on lately is Dueling Dragons at Universal. Love that thing.

Nope, the Blue Streak is still there. I rode it just last summer!

I will start looking into tickets and the like, I just didn't want to do a bunch of planning if no one was really interested. I know that you have to have quite a few people in order to qualify for group rates.

Edited to add: The title of this thread is an error, by the way, it was suppoesed to say "Cedar Point or Geauga Lake"
